Impressed with Cohen
« on: October 10, 2014, 09:17:02 PM »
He can play.  Very confident and in control out there.  Passes and handles well.  Shot looks good too, just doesn't look like a lot of range yet.  He's going to make some noise in his MU career, starting this year.

I know it's an extremely small sample, but I'd take him over both Duane Wilson & JJJ right now.

Tonight, at least, he was better than JJJ.

Wasn't even close.  I said it all offseason and feel no different after tonight,  I don't see what all the fuss is with JJJ.

Yeah, with minimal playing time. Remember this was a scrimmage. They do this in practice all the time...I'm willing to bet JJJ is better than Cohen more often than not.

Right now the guy is living off his reputation and ranking coming in.  He has shown almost nothing at MU so far.

Wait, so a guy who is 27th might not be as good as a guy that was 45th?  What about in comparison to a guy ranked 27th in a different year.  They're all the same....27 is lower than 30 you know.

Maybe he's a late bloomer, or maybe he's a miss....who knows.  With the whack job at the helm last year, we won't know for a bit.  Let's see how he does under a normal human being for a season.

I haven't given up, and I hope I'm wrong.  Lord knows with only 10 guys suiting up this year they need everyone contributing.  I think it's a toss up right now who you would less rather see jacking up a three, JJJ or Derrick.  And his shot is so darn ugly.

JaJuan was 9-31 last year and Derrick was 1-14...it was a scrimmage, step off the ledge.

Again, he's got an entire season no matter how much so many here want to make Buzz the scapegoat of everyone that underperformed last year.  OK I exxagerated comparing him to Derrick.  His shot is uglier, it's the ugliest on the team by far.

Are we really making career judgments about a player based on a scrimmage? Really?

Are u drunk?? Who cares what his shot looks like. He's proven he can make them and has. Wait until the games start before you start writing him off. Maybe he was excited, being in front of a crowd for the first time this season, who knows.

I said already I haven't given up on him.  I sure wish he would give us reason for optimism, unless you get excited about last season's 29% three pt pct.
