I don't know.  Because their student body and alumni base are a bunch of brie eating namby pambys?

They win a lot and are a great academic school. I hope we go the opposite direction!

Not thrilled about the ND connection for the simple fact he probably hated MU at some point, especially since he was at ND as a student in the late 70's. Now I don't doubt he'll do his best to lead MU's athletics, but of all the schools in all the land why did we have to hire a Domer?

Bill Scholl named Marquette’s new Athletic Director

Marquette has one less vacancy in its administrative team after tapping Bill Scholl to be the new Athletic Director. Scholl is currently the AD at Ball State but will take over duties in Milwaukee in mid-October, according to Marquette's announcement. He began his tenure there in 2012 after spending 23 years at Notre Dame.  From Marquette's [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://pixel.wp.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=12004&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

What worries me as that he got his degree in "American Studies" at ND.  That is the throw-away program that they toss all of the "student athletes" into who don't have a prayer in completing the general curriculum.  Basically ND's version of basket weaving.  Looks like he took the short bus to South Bend.

Because your major in college is much more important than the 35 years of experience and accomplishments you've had since.
Have some patience, FFS.

Also, how tall is he without shoes? We need answers.

Agreed.

This dude will wear a Marquette sweater, but we all know he has Notre Dame underwear.

Can't wait for him and WeirdJo to be gone.

We need Wardle, somebody who is truly passionate about MU.

It would be nice to have someone with a bit of intellectual capacity.  I may be asking too much...

You realized that reasoned arguments have no place in this thread.  You're supposed to look through his bio and find the first thing that causes an emotional reaction and go off half-cocked about that.

Then again, this thread might also serve a useful purpose, watch for those that get all bent out of shape that he's a domer ... they are the one's that were rejected by ND and never got past it.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm getting really tired of Marquette not posing these big decisions into a poll-thread on Scoop to have them vetted by us internet nerds.

Everyone's complaints are annoying.
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Yea well Buzz saw the writing on the wall too and got the hell out of dodge before things got ugly.

Looks like we could already have a problema.  Reports indicate that Bill Scholl has little appreciation for Buzz.

2.5 years at Ball State seems like a short visit as his only time spent in the lead role. It does look like he had good experience at ND, though.

I agree! Years of accomplishments during his professional career don't overcome this glaring wart on his CV related to his schooling of approximately 71,431 years ago.

I'm buying the "shares our values" line, but the bolded stuff couldn't have hurt.

"Prior to his term at Ball State, Scholl served 23 years at Notre Dame, where he finished as deputy athletics director. He was responsible for administration of men's basketball, football, baseball and men's soccer, as well as fundraising and donor relations, budgeting and growing external revenue. Scholl collaborated with the university's advancement office to lead the athletics department in an $84 million athletics fundraising initiative for the Spirit of Notre Dame campaign."

Since Scholl and Larry Williams would have spent some time together in ND's athletic department, Maybe Scholl has previous experience smoothing things over with donors who had their feathers ruffled by Williams.

So wait, are people legitimately upset that this guy went to ND? Or is this faux rage born of it being 31 days until madness?

chapman

He will either sabotage the program because he's a Domer and hates MU or because he was a small school AD and doesn't understand the importance in winning basketball games.  They had to dig deep to find Larry 2.0!

We need to fund raise to keep up so his background is good.
