Who was your favorite role player and why?

What did you like about their personality?

Did they have a signature game where they dominated?

I always liked Zach McCall, or as Steve "the Homer" True called him, "Turbo".  He would always come flying up the court like a bat out of hell.  The serious intensity he brought always cracked me up and got me on the bandwagon.

Give me Terry Reason. Loved his long-range jumper...and flowing jerri-curl 'do.

It didn't start out as jher-curls as I recall.  It was more of a roman-helmet-looking 'do.
Have some patience, FFS.

Whatever happened to him? I was in flight school in OK in the pre-internet days so news of MU was scarce since we were no longer winning. He came ion with great fanfare but then just disappeared. I recall he couldn't do anything with his left hand.

No. I'm sorry but Frozena when Lavin is out there? No debate - Mark Lavin put the on in walk.

Mark Lavin? Yes, please.

For starters Majerus threw him off the team in 1984

Reason wasn't really a role player - Majerus wanted him as the star of the team. He was a great shooter - I think in high school he was the 2nd all-time scorer in California history. He could do it in practice, but it never translated to games. Majerus never could figure out why.

Faisal Abraham.  Didn't put up with any b.s. from some of those thug-like Cincy teams.  He was a starter his senior year but mainly a great backup.  Averaged like 5+ boards and 2+ blocks a game only averaging 15 minutes or so.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOusmane Barro.

Interesting question... Two guys that come to mind right away are Faisal Abraham and Oluoma Nnamaka. Loved Faisal's toughness and rebounding. Nnamaka might not have had a set role, but was a great "glue guy."

He was a beast.  Wasn't he the original "Sheriff" according to Homer?  I saw him bouncing at a club in Milwaukee around 2002.

+1 for Nnamaka. Was he really a role player though? He wasn't a star, that's for sure, but he was a glue guy as he did a lot of dirty work.

+10 for Faisal. I cringed when he went to the line, but grinned when the opposing post players couldn't get past the brick wall that was Abraham. Unfortunately linked to the phantom foul that led to VT beating MU for the NIT championship.

Joe Chapman and Rob Logterman. The dudes stepped up and hit big shots and put up points when you didn't expect them to. They were also pretty steady ballhandlers.

Clausen was a beast on the boards.

Good call on Joe Chapman! That FF run doesn't happen without his big threes against Holy Cross.

I actually always liked Dan Fitzgerald. Smart guy. Decent jumper. Worked hard. Chicos-style traditional. Also really liked David Cubillan. Joe Fulce.

Some notable role player performances.... Mike Kinsella jacking up three 3 pointers in one game and making ALL of them

Amoroso playing out of his mind and scoring 30 points and grabbing 12 boards to win us the Great Alaskan Shootout http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/112705aaa.html
