If Martin is the Next Coach: What are Expectations
« on: March 31, 2014, 04:34:20 PM »
Cuonzo Martin Expectations:
Let's say he keeps most of the recruits on board for next year, but minus Ahmed Hill.  In his place, we will say that a juco player is brought on board or some Tenn transfer.

What are the expectations from MU fans?

Year 1
Year 2
Year 3

That his contract buyout is low to begin with and zeroes out by Year 3

That you could roll bowling balls around the upper section of the BC without risk of hitting anyone.

For me the expectation will be the same regardless of who we hire, which is to continue our current trajectory.  In most cases, a coaching change doesn't have a major impact on an established program.  I expect us to be in the hunt for a Big East title most years and make the tournament more often than not, with an occasional run past the first weekend.

I'll take a stab at Year 1: 15-17 overall. 7-11 in conference. No NCAA. No NIT.

That the program goes into a steady decline.

Is that why you're salty that the Milwaukee Wave might be leaving?

This could be said of all the candidates save maybe Howland and perhaps Miller.

I am insulted.  I will have you know I am my own dick bag.  I resent being lumped in with others.

I'm shocked by this prediction. I mean, truly shocked. I don't think I'm conveying how shocked I am--just truly blown away.

Someone asked.  I answered.  And I fully admit that I am incredibly frustrated by the process on this one.

Sometimes, in my opinion, like right now, "analysis paralysis" happens, where the obvious isn't done in the name of following the "process" and looking at every possible "viable" (not necessarily "best") alternative.

Again, just my opinion.

Cords said 'impact hire' -- this is not an impact hire.

Let me guess, though, each year we're in the top 20 on Ken Pom for defensive and offensive efficiency?!!

1.) Keep the core players currently on the roster that have stated they want to stay: Duane Wilson, Deonte Burton, Luke Fischer, John Dawson.

2.) Keep at least 2, hopefully 3 or all out of the following the fold: Jajuan Johnson, Steve Taylor, Sandy Cohen, Ahmed Hill

3.) Make a hard run at Stone, sign a great first class in 2015

4.) Barring injury, finish .500 or better in conference year 1, make the tournament year 2, make a S16 or better tournament run year three

5.) Continue to stock the roster with talent 2016 and beyond

That's what I would hope for with any hire, by the way

I don't give a fck what the numbers are, what the stars are next to the recruits, or the style of play as long as MU is winning.

Doesn't the fact that every other team with a top 25 offense and defense this year had really good years lead you to believe that what happened in Tennessee was a fluke?

I get that you're being a dick, and I sense we will get this from you ad infinitum for the foreseeable future, but if we had a top 20 KenPom offense & defense for the first four consecutive years, we would have several deep tournament runs to correspond. So I don't exactly know why you would sarcastically dismiss it or act like that wouldn't be a good thing... unless you don't really know what you're saying, which I'm not ruling out...
