Did we reanimate Al?  That would have an impact on the basketball program, and if biomed is behind it, really have an impact on the university's status as well.

That happened last night.  Go to twitter and check out @HoloAlMcguire

So impact hire = Smart, Howland or Marshall I wouild assume.

Yes.
Or a massive asteroid.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Saying Brian wardle is an impact hire is not what I wanted to hear. He would be far from an impact hire.

Who said Wardle is an impact hire?  I think you might be misreading ... all of the threads.

Nobody said it had to be a positive impact.

Everyone is forgetting that an AD is needed.  That is the catalyst in the whole deal and who the Coach will work with the most.  You people are all waiting for a quick deal.  It's not going to happen soon, unless an AD is picked up soon.

Very interesting:

Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanESPN  2m
Marquette hired new president today. Still no athletic director, but one coach told me that president is "more important to him than an AD."

One coach?  He obviously asked Crean.

Coaches don't work for AD's, ADs work for coaches. ADs also don't hire coaches, university Presidents do.

I assume the AD is going to take a while considering that Cords is staying through next spring.

Around here? Pretty much.

That was in no way unique to Marquette.

I said this last night, but someone behind the scenes better write a book on all the stuff behind the scenes that occurred within the past 2 weeks.

This stuff is just fascinating.

True.  ADs are often doing work behind the scenes (and an interim AD, especially one with experience, is fine for that), but nothing gets done without the President and the BOT.

Conspiracy theory - Is Goodman's quote simply missing brackets:

"more important [to him] than an AD"

or is it a direct quote and the coach he asked is talking about a "him", as in specific candidate?

MU has an AD, albeit on an interim basis. I would guess there's almost zero chance the AD's office gets filled before the head coaching position.

Knight Commission

So could the bball coach also be an AD?

Or, since we know that Goodman is our former coach's mouthpiece.....was that who he was asking?

MikeDeanesDarkGlasses

To belittle the role of the AD  is ridiculous.  It has a huge impact on the coach we get.
