I have no idea what's going on in most of this thread, so I'll just hope that most of you are being sarcastic with the names being thrown out.

I was with Coach K, but I think the bigger point was to toss out names and see if they lead to anything. @DenverMU has a feeling that it's a coach from a  football school, tired of playing second fiddle. Until we know who it is, it's fun to speculate and make up reasons it makes sense. Better than complaining about Beige Buzz (figured it's a good parallel to Tanned Tommy?)

probably Mike Brey.

Brey would be a better game coach than Smart. So would Howland.

Yeah if it's Brey I don't know when I'd stop puking

Eldon

If it's Brey, I see two silver linings

1)  Stick it in ND's face
2)  Have Brey on CBS during the S16 games talking about how strong the BE is and has more overall basketball potential than the ACC, with the latter having football and all.

While that would be nice, those two things would LITERALLY be the only two positives to come out of that hire. Not even figuratively, LITERALLY. Not worth it to me. Not worth it at all.

GooooMarquette

If Howland is interested and we hire Brey, I may give up my season tix.

I could see Smart or Marshall over Howland, but Brey isn't even in the ballpark with those guys.

I'll go you one further' if we hired Brey, ND would hire Smart in a nanosecond.

Makes me think someone like Matta or maybe Jamie Dixon...could see the latter leaving Pitt.

I would love Jamie Dixon.  I wanted him when Crean left.  That would be awesome.

The longer this goes on the more I keep thinking back to when Scuzz was hired.  We all speculated about a bunch of big names, then went "Who?"  Hope that doesn't happen again.

Doubt it. MU is currently the best job on the market. Gotta take advantage of that while its still the case.

Biggest difference here is a big time established coach has made i public that he wants the job.  Now if Howland were to accept the Wake job tonight, I'd be concerned about where that would leave us because then we'd be back to speculating

Maybe you could knock Smart's coaching just one more time. I don't think anyone gets your point (after point after point) yet  ::)

denverMU

Been a long day, but my understanding now is we are holding on the coach who contacted us with interest in MU.  Our number one focus is Shaka Smart and we are working hard to get a deal done quickly.

mr.MUskie

So, Shaka, with Howland as a fall back. Win-win.

GoldenWarrior11

I have been absent all day.  So Shaka has become the leader in the clubhouse, or is that all just speculation?
