Have to be honest, Weber just does not inspire much confidence.  He constantly underachieved at Illinois, and he only went far with Bill Self's guys.

Agree, would rather take Howland.

Would he really leave Louisville right as they are about to join the ACC?
Not Rick...his son. He's at Minnesota and did well this season

His son who is coaching Minnesota, not Rick

Supposedly Richard was their second choice, after Buzz

Pakuni

Big time coach from big time university?
It's gotta be Rick Barnes.

The biggest problem with a Bruce Weber hire is we have interest from someone better.

Honest question: are you getting information that there was interest from a big time name at a big time school, but not who, or ... ? Trying to understand what we're guessing at :)

I don't know about everybody else, but I'm not a Marshall fan. I don't like the cut of his jib.

Maybe he can get the number of BW's tailor

Well, this seems like a fun thread. I want to play.

I think the obvious choice is Coach K  ;D Maybe Josh Pastner? Not sure if that fits the "big name big program" criteria.

I keep coming back to Matta or Brey

nathanziarek

I don't have a problem with Brey, but he doesn't excite me. Thad Matta feels like a much, much stronger name.

I have no idea what's going on in most of this thread, so I'll just hope that most of you are being sarcastic with the names being thrown out.

I would agree whole heartily, but (and this is very hard for me, right 4ever?) Brey is a very good coach.

Na this happened with Crean leaving, too. Getting delusional on the internet is what middle-aged basketball fans do best!

Is the dude sharing this tidbit getting off on giving you hints without telling you?  I just don't get the "I know something you don't know" nonsense

I don't doubt your info about there being a high major coach having reached out, but some of the names tossed out are what get me. For example, what makes you think Matta? I see little that we offer over OSU. And I really hope you were being sarcastic in thinking Rick Pitino instead of Richard.

I could see Brey, I could see Weber. I'd also pass on both in favor of Howland.

Eldon

by "big name" do you mean big name overall?  Or just big name in basketball?

Is Notre Dame considered a big name in basketball?  I mean, it's a solid program and all, but "big name"  Idk.  Just my opinion

Matta could be way off, I was just thinking of coaches at schools where Football is king.  I would also prefer Howland over those two.

What other info has he been correct on previously?
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."
