Right T, he said "MAR/IJ"  He kicked me out of class twice and wouldn't let me take the final in the classroom.  I had to take it in the hallway!  He kicked me out for some comment I made on birth control and the second time for a comment on masturbation.  He was so weird.

Weirdest teacher ever, Jeff - made Horton Roe look normal.

Our pre-cana couple, she had a reputation in the old lady's home town as a woman of loose morals, and was drunk during our meeting.  Probably coulda filmed a POV porno with the drunk lady right on the spot if the wife was willing (she probably wasn't back then).

Funny postscript. 7 years later my wife and I were living in Boston and went out to Fenway. We're sitting in some box seats when in the 3rd inning a hugely endowed woman with flaming red hair is taking her seat in front of us. She sees me, I see her and she cries out at 200 decibals, "Hey! I remember you!"  She was "Big Red" from Rickey's. My groomsmen had hired her as part of the pre-wedding activities.

For years afterward, my wife would invoke the image of Big Red to shame, embarrass, humiliate, chastise, mock, or scold. There are some battles where it is better for a man to simply concede defeat. The Battle of Big Red is one of them.
This is a weird question, and I mean it with all due respect, but have you seen the movie "Gravity?" Your (great) stories remind me of the yarns Clooney's character tells. Great movie, by the way. If you haven't seen it you're missing out.

Yea, it's a lot harder to put it in the hole once you say I do...

I lucked out.  My mom lived 500 miles away from Gesu (and 1000 miles from me) and I got to make all the decisions myself.  Her only contribution was to look at my dress the day of the wedding and say, "Is that really appropriate to wear in church?".

She objected to you wearing white?

Very funny.

Actually she thought it showed too much of my back - so even though it was long-sleeved and came up to my collarbone in the the front, she thought it showed too much skin.
Have some patience, FFS.

Got married in a protestant (Lutheran) church.   Highly recommend it.  Service is over in 1/2 the time.   3 pre-marriage counseling sessions, all for a couple of hours in the evening.   The Catholics on my side of the church were aghast that the minister performing the marriage was a woman.   I giggled.
Babies?   First birthing class, one of the other couples asked "What about the machine that goes....bing?"    I fell over laughing (think Monty Python).   Everybody else in the class looked at us like we were insane.    My wife tried the all natural thing the first time.    The second time, she grabbed the first nurse she saw and demanded drugs in a demonic voice.   She tells every woman pregnant for the first time to forget about the all natural crap.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Planning a wedding was the most stressful event of my life.  We were in CA, getting married in IN,  with lots of family coming from NJ.  For real, 4 years later- we had our first baby, bought a house from 2000 miles away, and moved cross country all in a one month period- that was LESS stressful.  The husband had zero interest in helping with any of the details, and I, frankly didn't care that much about most of them either.  I can remember my mom checking stuff out in IN for me, and asking me all these stupid BSy questions about flowers and cakes. I wish we would've had the dough just to hire someone to make all those annoying decisions.

We had to do the pre-cana weekend, ugh.  We snuck out on the Saturday night with 2 other couples and got 40's of Mickeys from the local 7-11.  It was one hell of a miserable Sunday. :D So weird.  I think I might have the workbook stashed somewhere upstairs- might be an interesting read :).  I don't remember having a sponsor couple though.

I was a typical first mom with the baby classes though- made the husband go to the childbirth, "how to care for a newborn," breastfeeding, and infant CPR classes with me. Yup, I was not only already CPR certified, but certified to give Pediatric Advanced Life Support- but dammit, the book said I have to take this class, so I'm going to.  I don't remember much, except that I already felt like a failure because I was pretty sure fancy breathing couldn't outdo an epidural. Fast forward a couple of years- didn't take any classes with #2, and even forgot a couple of doctor appointments with #3 (and didn't feel the least bit like a failure asking for the epidural).

mu_hilltopper

It should be restated .. childbirthing classes = monumental waste of time.

Classes on how to care for a newborn after you them 'em home from the hospital / infant CPR, etc .. those classes could have value.

Took your advice and watched Gravity last night. Excellent movie. The cinematography was stellar. Cheers.

Too bad you didn't get a chance to see it in Imax 3D. It is exactly the type of movie that technology was meant for.

I'll bet. It was stellar in HD but it must be stupendous in the IMAX 3-D format.

Seeing someone casually who starts work at 3 am means that one rarely goes to the movies.

What was good about gravity? That movie sucked. After the novelty of the space scenes wore off, it was slow moving and anti-climatic. It was basically an exposition of Sandra Bullock's legs at 49.

Agree with Keefe, the cinematography was incredible.

Also 2nd the comment about Keefe reminding me of George Clooney's character

No doubt and the Academy would agree with you. It took home seven Academy Awards, but conspicuously missing from those 7 was best actress and best picture. Maybe I should have gone into it with different expectations.

If I want to see a movie badly enough, I will go by myself.  That's how I saw Amadeus back in 1985 and it's now one of my all-time favorites.  I ended up dragging other people to it later, and they were grateful.

Yesterday I tweeted TeamCoachBuzz and asked if they were interested. I think Buzz and Corey would be a great sponsor couple for a lot of reasons, but the biggest is that fact that they are both willing to talk about God and Faith in the media when it seems to be a bit of a taboo subject in this day and age.

So are you guys moving the ceremony to Blacksburg?
