Grebe's for lunch. Madd girlies at Campus Town. Hoppin on the VAX/VMS at newly-opened Cudahy.

Renee Row parties. Cases of Old Milwaukee. Drink & make furniture out of them. Trying not to puke in the LIMO.

Playing NBA Jam in that basement spot in the Union. Common, Boogiemonsters, Beatnuts, Prince Poetry at the Varsity.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

That is incredible for me to think about. Shirts and ties at dinner? Also hilarious that women had an earlier curfew than men.

I think that what Keefe was referring to in post 11.

sprinting from Marquette Hall on friday afternoons after accounting tests to the Gym before they put the bouncer on the door.  Damn near every sophomore in the business school hanging out drinking.

GDL Camp in East Troy.
Watching "Days of Our Lives" in the TV lounge in Brooks Memorial Union.
Officially sanctioned floor parties in the dorms that had beer and mixed drinks.
Marching down to the lake after the Brewers won the pennant.
The entire bar singing along to "Burning Down the House" on the jukebox in The Gym.
Seeing the Jagoff Blues Brothers in the Grill..
"Bambi vs. Godzilla" before movies at the Varsity Theatre.
Have some patience, FFS.

I know you have a child at MU now and I have two there. Think they are making the same memories? My son is having blast but seems to be lacking a lot of what experienced.

I have two there as well.  And I think it is different now.  And that is sad.

It seems that (A) schools have a lower tolerance for the stuff we did (B) many kids are taking it much more serious than we did.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I think there are a couple of issues at play here:

1.  Kids do study harder; Marquette is a tougher school than it was back in the day.
2.  If you look at my list, over half of the items were related to school-sponsored activities. It seems like most of the social scene evolves around opportunities to binge-drink.  Not exactly the stuff of fond memories.
Have some patience, FFS.

Different yes things change.  However, I doubt the drinking has changed very much (as I sit here with a guiness float).  I think due to DPS and the board having a stick up their rear ends the in your face social scene isn't as there as it used to be but I mean my freshman year we were named Playboy's No1 Catholic party school so it can't be too bad.

Friday afternoon acco exams blew.

One of my favorite memories was going to OPs during the Friday afternoon accounting exams and getting a head start on all the b school folks- and they would come in one after the other bitching for a minute and then start just enjoying the weekend
