Former Indiana big man Luke Fischer. @Bigfishy44: I am excited to say I will be transferring to Marquette University.

I guess Tommie predicted there would be big sh1t if he blocked this one.

Congrats to the team.  When can he start play, next January or does he have to sit whole year?

GooooMarquette

Welcome to Marquette Luke!

Your table is set and ready for next January.

🏀

Really good news.

Will help big time next conference season.

The gaping hole at the 5 position doesn't look so bad now.  Fischer and Pierce will have 2.5 years together.

GGGG

BTW, it could be argued that Bo's pigheadedness with Uthoff is the reason Fischer is coming here and not to UW.

Thanks Bo!!!!

If you add in Stone or Ellenson we'll have a better frontline then than we do now.

Doesn't matter - it's a guards game.

Enjoyed his tweets; great opportunity for him in Brew Town.

Pleasantly surprised.   Welcome to the Marquette family, Luke.

Add Stone to the mix and that's a championship level team full of Wisconsin studs. Exciting!

Luke will have 2.5 years of playing, unless he decides to sit all of next year.He will have 3 years then. The first semester playing at IU counts as a full year.

Correct.  This is the problem with mid year transfers.  They lose a year of eligibility.  You cannot spread your redshirt over two seasons.

GooooMarquette

I stand corrected.  Still 2.5 years better than expected.  So much for that gaping hole in the middle next season.

Can Luke practice with the team right away?

Yep.  I think he can even travel with the team.

Think about this line up in a couple of years...

Duane / Nick
Hill
JJJ / Cohen
Burton / Shayok
Fischer / Pierce

Of course it never quite pans out this way but still...

I guess the next question is, is Malek Harris still in the picture?  (We are one over for next year if Harris signs in the spring.)

I hope he is still in the picture.  He is a Top 75 recruit at 6ft 7 and 215.  Someone always leaves MU, so we'll see.

Doubt if the Uthoff thing was the reason--more likely losing a year of eligibility.

At any rate, if this is true, then I can begin to lift the Buzz is unable to recruit quality bigs mantra for a bit. However, we must still get Stone--then we are on the way.

Congratulations to Buzz and MU. Never seen the guy play. Anybody know his style and pros/cons?

4/5.  He can hit the mid range jumper.  Runs the floor well.  Not a traditional back to the basket 5.

From nbc sports:

Fischer won't be eligible until the second semester of the 2014-2015 season.

Fischer will have 3.5 years of eligibility remaining beginning with the second semester of the 2014-2015 season.

They are wrong.  Unless he receives some sort of waiver, he only has 2.5 years.

And they are also wrong that he gains eligibility at the beginning of the second semester.  He gains eligibility when his first semester grades are posted.

Jeronne Maymon and Reggie Smith both started playing mid December.

Easy--one of the few calling them as I see them, without the blue/gold shades on, although there is nothing wrong with wearing those shades once in a while--just do not get blinded.

Great news. Add Stone and we have something to talk about.
