We had Echenique for 2.5 years, after he played 1.5 for Rutgers.

So I'm not sure what the rule is but he played 4 full seasons with a mid-season transfer in between.

Also, looks like Creighton was one of the last 3 on his list of choices.  Shoot

Says on his Twitter it was between MU, Creighton, and UWM.  Let's get him going - great potential, but like 98% of bigs he does need to be developed.  He and the staff have 11.5 months before the first progress check.

As far as Uthoff, none of the noise that came of it if only the intraconference transfer was blocked from the beginning - he would have gone elsewhere like every other transfer.  It was the list of other schools Bo had added for no reason that caused the outrage and the PR fix of letting him go anywhere.

Interesting that Creighton made the list considering it's a longer trip from Germantown, WI than Bloomington is.

Not sure that Omaha qualifies as "closer to home".

Been discussed many times.

He had a medical hardship waiver.

Ah, from the detatched retina.  I didn't realize he got a waiver for it to get the extra year, I just figured since he had played 1.5 he got 2.5 after the transfer.

Georgetown somehow also got a waiver to pretend Josh Smith didn't play six games for UCLA last year - got to play immediately this year and have an extra year of eligibility.  I'd imagine 13 games and playing until Dec. 22 is too much to appeal to the NCAA to use some of its nonsensical inconsistency and give Luke some freebies.

Thought I read Fisher missed enough games with the shoulder injury to qualify for a medical redshirt for this season.

He didn't miss any games...just a few weeks of practice.

Then Fischer deserves a "Crean Hardship Waiver" to be consistent with past precedent.

Luke Fischer picks Marquette
Jeff Goodman [ARCHIVE]

ESPN.com | January 5, 2014
Luke Fischer will transfer to Marquette after deciding last week to leave Indiana.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound Germantown, Wis., product tweeted on Sunday morning that he has chosen to continue his college career for Buzz Williams and the Golden Eagles. He won't be eligible until the middle of the 2014-15 season.

"I am excited to say I will be transferring to Marquette University to play for Coach Williams and the Golden Eagles," Fischer tweeted. "Marquette allows me to be closer to home while playing at the highest level for a great academic institution."

Fischer was Mr. Basketball in the state and a top-100 recruit for Tom Crean and the Hoosiers but missed much of the preseason with a shoulder injury and played sparingly this season.

Fischer averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 games. Crean opted to use fellow freshman Noah Vonleh in the middle, which resulted in limited minutes for Fischer and sophomore Hanner Mosquera-Perea.

Fischer should have an opportunity to play a significant role at Marquette, which will lose its top two big men -- Davante Gardner and Chris Otule -- after the season.

Fischer, who scored 10 points and blocked three shots in his final game against Kennesaw State last week, was a part of a highly touted Indiana recruiting class that also included Vonleh, Troy Williams, Stanford Robinson and Devin Davis.

Yep.  I think he can even travel with the team.

Think about this line up in a couple of years...

Duane / Nick
Hill
JJJ / Cohen
Burton / Shayok
Fischer / Pierce

Of course it never quite pans out this way but still...

I guess the next question is, is Malek Harris still in the picture?  (We are one over for next year if Harris signs in the spring.)
He is a transfer, so he cannot travel with the team until he is eligible to play next December.

Very excited about the news. I was a bit worried about next year up front. Luke will be a great addition for conference season to get minutes at the 5. Welcome to MU!!
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Omaha is a lot closer to home if you are from the middle of nowhere

Especially for you Keefe. It likely holds a special spot for you, being the home of SAC. Nothing wrong with Omaha, lived there 7 years. Of course, after Husker football they do not root for much else--except Tom Osborne and Bob Devaney statues. But they did give us Kerry Trotter--and who can ever forget Vic Lazaretti.

Enough issues this year without bringing up Vic. Trotter is better memory.

Spent half a year in Omaha when my F4 driver father got some SAC stink on him. Went to St Pius X school. Nothing but great memories.

SAC is now STRATCOM which is a Joint COCOM.

I think Lazaretti ended up going to Harvard Law after losing his Chuck Taylors

If this is the willie we get when we have 4 and 5 star rated big men (regardless of whether or not they produce, it's all about the height and the stars), then let's get some more top rated tall dudes!

Sultan, can you explain the eligibility? Says he's a freshman online, so why wouldn't he have 3.5 years?

So will he be here next semester then?  Because this extra time would be huge for him to go against gardner and otule in practice.
