This has always been my go to board. Yes, this board goes overboard on losses many w even less posts then me who have there owen vendetta. I'm mainly a lurker because there is good material, but after 2-3 pages of good stuff it always turns into useless banter. If the team wins, everyone's happy, but when we lose we will have people who likes to voice there displeasure. I stick around because 75 percent of the stuff on the board is informative and fun to read.

Owen Vendetta should be starting over Derrick!

I am sorry, Lenny. It was the scotch talking. Forgive me.

Too funny, Crash. Not you, of course. My guess is it's likely that you've been a victim of a cyber stalker or two here.

My has been in the profile since I joined. Only one Scooper has used it to stalk me and intentionally be a dick. Guess who? (not Equalizer)

That's so crazy...did that person show up at your house, too?  Did you return the favor.......that's ok, I'll bet the stalker made you do that.   ;D

The key to having an "informative" fanboard is to have regular posters who are informative.  That comes primarily in two flavors, 1) interesting statistical analysis and insight (e.g. the value-add stuff that Bama used to throw around) and 2) inside/non-public information.

The problem with the former is that Brew77 is the only one who has done any substantial statistical work recently, and the problem with the latter is that MU is such a small world, and if you start posting sensitive info too often, you're either going to get fired for leaking or if the knowledge is secondhand, your source is going to figure out who you are and stonewall (or fire) you.

So your "informed" posters are going to either a) post sporadically or b) mix in a fair amount of speculation/opinion with the inside information so to make it seem like you're just getting lucky (or better yet, make the inside info seem like speculation).

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Sure it's more vitriolic this year because our expectations were too high, but I keep reading for posts like this which, though a tad sophomoric, make me LOL.

The reports of MUScoop's death was an exaggeration.

I do wish all of our members would reply to each other in the same manner as if they were face to face.  Then again, maybe everyone does, and we have a bunch of a$$holes here.   I believe that's unlikely however.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

The only things the frustrate me on here are:

1) Old debates being dragged up places where they don't belong (the Warriors name change, Father Pilarz ruining everything, TC being the devil...). Each of those topics should have one designated thread and all related items be placed in it.

2) When posters act like they know more than the coach. Our staff knows a helluva lot more than any of us. If you want to post your opinion, fine. If you want to post statistics that question the coach, fine. If you want to express confusion about decisions, fine. But the constant Buzz is overratted, Buzz is too loyal to seniors, buzz needs to do this or do that...it gets annoying and is just downright arrogant.

3) Personal attacks. We are all Marquette fans here (except for that OnWisconsin troll), let's act like we are on the same time.

I'm sure I have participated in one of the three activities above. If you ever catch me in the act, please call me out on it. I will own up to it.

Not much else on Scoop besides those 3 categories. You might want to stick with Dodds' site. Much more milquetoast. Except for his Granny Nagging, that is.

Whatever happened to Bama? I like the advanced stats stuff.

You know what really, really pisses me off?

It's when we are having a serious discussion about jigs or spinners, and some changes the topic to basketball.

Merry Christmas all.

Now if we could just channel some of this energy towards the rodent trolls who like to follow/comment on Hunt's incredibly insightful MU blogs!!

I have a little trouble with this one IMO.  No coaching staff knows it all, plus there are many ways to skin the cat.  Comes with the territory when you are a coach or a high profile decisonmaker, you will get second guessed.  You said it well that people should and can have those viewpoints, which is better than some who get very angry when people have those viewpoints as if they simply aren't allowed.   My only quibble is the last line about it being arrogant.  Certainly can be arrogant, but doesn't have to be either..

Agree.  I can quibble with Buzz's decisions about playing time for specific players - I personally think Juan deserves more, for example - but that doesn't mean I claim to "know more about basketball" than Buzz.

I find all this bickering hilarious. Nothing like a bunch of middle aged men gossiping and hurting each other's feelings over the Internet. It's wonderful how upset everyone gets over anything, to the point that this board can't function and someone like BAM or whatever his name was has to make a formal retirement statement and quit the board. Stuff like this is reality TV gold. I'll be in contact with Danny Pudi and see what we can come up with, because what you people do on here is comical 90% of the time. A bunch of adults who devote every week to picking fights and stalking the twitters/instagrams/facebooks of teenagers and 20-somethings who just want to play basketball.

Nominee for post of the year!  Well done and truth...this board is great entertainment.

Reality TV or sitcom, the "message board wars" idea actually sounds like it has potential for an entertaining show.

I find it hilarious that you see internet message board bickering, and think "reality TV"...because it seems to imply that you think reality TV is based on real-life stuff.  Now THAT I find comical....
