To me the inside scoop has been missing and that had led to to senseless debates on on the backcourt, Steve Taylor, Jr and the freshmen. I agree Big Daddy throwing out some dirt or others makes exciting. No doubt this board is best MU ball forum and hope the new year brings some new topics.

I guess this depends upon one's definition of "over-the-top criticizing" or "attacks."

I don't think saying "Jake Thomas isn't good enough to be a high-major 2" is an attack. I think saying, "Jake Thomas is worthless and I wish he never came back" is an attack. Thankfully, I don't think we have much of the latter, but I know it does happen sometimes.

Well said.

When I read stuff like he couldn't start on Grambling, I only hope that is hyperbole.  Jake's a pretty good player, busts his butt and has hit some shots for us.  He would be a nice role player on this team, but he's forced to play major minutes (maybe forced isn't the right word, selected by our coach to play major minutes).  Whether that's because the freshmen aren't ready or Jake is proving it in practice, that's the deal right now.  I don't think Jake is the reason this team is struggling.

The seniors have yet to assert themselves in the fashion some expected.  Point guard play has been inconsistent, we have lineups at times where we have only one person who can score, and we have a player that at times appears to not be on the same page as his coach (or his former AD) and teammates.  Roll all that together and we underachieve vs expectations.

Some of the fault lies on the players, some on the coaches, and some on out of proportion expectations.  When folks throw out that we were an Elite 8 team, they also forget how lucky we were to get out of the first round.  We were that close to being one and one....if that had happened, how would the expectations have changed?  The line is very thin.

Anyone else miss the incoherent postings and the pee your trousers grammatical escapades of Dimes?

Seems he got banned for calling other people "idiots", yet others do not get banned for the same things.  I agree with others,  the civilty police seem to have disappeared

Sadly, your track record speaks for itself - banned from the Scout Board, along with another of my "friends" here, Sultan - Banned from MU Scoop for a year, yet so nuts you create a fictitious account and begin posting under Hoopaloop.  Pure Comedy.

I was banned for like a week because apparently we can call players, coach, etc. whatever we want to call them, but we can't call another poster a name because that apparently steps over the line.

The good thing about Scoop is that it is pretty much an open forum.  The moderators don't want to do a lot of moderating and it can lead to good discussion.  The bad thing about that is that it drives posters with decent information away.  No true "insiders" post here any longer because of the wild west nature of the forum.

How to fix it?  I might suggest that the posters consider making everyone put their name and email in the profile.  It's a lot harder to make idiotic comments when everyone knows who you are.

My name is Jack Harbaugh and I used to draw a six figure salary for ushering the "season ticket holder of the game" to mid court.

I guess it's that time of year that the team is bad enough that we start complaining about each other instead of the team.

Merry Xmas!

I wear my banning from Scout as a badge of honor...you see it as some kind of negative thing...sorry, it is anything but.

I support 99% of Scout bannings.

This year is difficult for a number of reasons, and that is reflected on the forum.  For example, I am most disappointed in that we really have not had anybody step up this year.  Maybe we have been spoiled, but so far this looks more like a collection of 5-10 minute a game role players than what we have seen for the past 10 years. Paint Touches has done great work detailing the lack of production of the bigs, our supposed strength, but I sympathize with those who believe this stems from an offensively challenged back court that cannot penetrate or dish and can score in very limited ways, like wide open 3's---maybe.  Given the relative lack of production of our upperclassmen I too want to see touted freshmen play, but I also saw Burton looking absolutely clueless on defense several times against Ball State, and if I can see that with my little basketball knowledge I can understand why that must drive Buzz insane.

I don't mind the back and forth, or even the occasional idiot being called out(which may even be me), but I do get worn out from the replay of year+ old grudges.

This season is not meeting expectations so far.  People like to complain.   Fans feel entitled to something and act like 2 year olds when they can't get it.   It isn't actually anything new, it's the same thing that used to go on in bars, cars, break rooms, backyards, only now everyone believes their team has a birthright to win, a need for instant gratification and a keyboard.    That goofball in the bar that you shake your head at and turn away from and back to your friends and your beer?    He's the guy who now shows up here after losses ranting how he knows more than the coach and how this is the worst team ever and how the world is ending.     Using 25 posts, corrupting every interesting  constructive discussion.

Tis the world we live in.   For better or for worse.

That's a nice way to chill speech. How un-American of you.

There are a few guys who are always angry and only come around to rip the team/coach. If we start to perform better, they'll pretty much go away. If we don't it will just get uglier here.

This has always been my go to board. Yes, this board goes overboard on losses many w even less posts then me who have there owen vendetta. I'm mainly a lurker because there is good material, but after 2-3 pages of good stuff it always turns into useless banter. If the team wins, everyone's happy, but when we lose we will have people who likes to voice there displeasure. I stick around because 75 percent of the stuff on the board is informative and fun to read.
