I just want to send the props out to the student body for representing Marquette fans on opening night.  In all my years of attending MU season openers I have never seen the student section as large and energetic as they were at last friday nights game.

With this big week ahead of us let's pull together our friends and family and muster up your golden pride and really make the student section the best 6th man country.

Keep it up and cheer load.

We are Marquette!!!

By the way, that was "Breaking Bad" superfan jsglow jr. waving around the new Heisenberg noggin.  Almost as big of a thrill for him as meeting RJ Mitte (Walt Jr.) the week before the finale.
Have some patience, FFS.

The official ale of Marquette basketball?

It has competition for the title of official malted beverage..

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

The student section was awesome. Excited Frosh were pouring out of McCormick at 5:00 pm and by 5:30 pm the line at the BC was fairly long.  After the doors opened and the seats filled, the Eagle's Nest Superfans led '6th Man Boot Camp' so Frosh would know the cheers.  By game time, the kids had nearly filled the upper deck and 'I Believe' and the ticket toss, etc. went off perfectly.

I contrast that showing with many of the season ticket holders who again couldn't be bothered to show up for a non conference opening game on Friday night or be in their seats when the championship banner got unveiled at 6:55 pm.  If you live within 100 miles of the BC and missed the game for anything other than an important family commitment...

And if you weren't there, I'd think long and hard before bitching about the students on scoop again.

Stone Cellar?

Great bar.

Yep!  Now known as Stone Arch Brew House  (Stone Cellar was trademark reserved, so change was forced).

Props as well to the students as they showed up in force for an opening "buy" game.  Of course, it was a Friday nite and I don't suspect we'll see that kind of turnout tomorrow nite for the Grambling game.  Now for the OSU game on Saturday, I expect there should be no empty seats in the northeast corner of the BC....!

.... or in the rest of the BMO Bradley.  I'm hoping that we end up with a Top 10 all time attendance mark although that may be tough to do this early in the season.

I opted for the women's soccer semifinals in the Valley. With Morrison Stadium in the conference, it might be a while before MU gets to host that event again.

All I ever want from the student section is to just show up.

All good Brew!  We've enjoyed soccer in the Valley several times ourselves!  Still remember that great Men's match last year against UConn.

Good to know. I haven't been there since last Christmas. Definitely my kind of place. Very cozy atmosphere with great beer and food.

By the way....

Best seats for tOSU are currently 404 Row P.  So plenty of room for you up in the corners.  Hope to see everyone there.

Not gonna lie - I have been hoping the ripped-off 'We Believe' cheer would die a very quick death.

Ain't gonna happen.  Part of the tradition now.  As are the arm/hand gestures during introductions (like the big overhead 'O' for OooooooTuuuuuule).

I guess our traditions are a compilation of other schools' traditions....

When are we going to do 'Rock, Chalk, Marquette?' I can hardly wait.

Won't happen without ND and WI at home.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Probably when you re enroll at MU and start showing up super early to games so that you control the cheers.

You still don't control the cheers.

Beg to differ PTM.  The Eagle's Nest Superfans DO control most of the cheers.  I won't mention any of the guys/girls by name but the current and recently graduated crop have done a lot for the overall student section and everyone there knows it.  Moreover, those guys absolutely welcome and encourage newbie Freshmen.  It's not like the Eagle's Nest is reserved for upperclassmen although I do think that there are a few modest privileges granted.
