While we're talking about things that may or may not ever happen in the student section, see if you can get them to hold a steady rhythm for the "We Are Marquette" chant. I always wondered why it got faster and faster and consequently was over after a couple rounds. I think it would be much more powerful (and allow more people to get on board) if it was sustained for a minute or two, particularly at the end of games. That way we'd have no more starting with a minute left and being done by the 40 second mark. Just a thought, but I won't hold my breath.

Lack of foresight, the curse of youth!!!

I've never plussed anything before.
I plus this.

BTW, it has nothing to do with the fact that I happened to find a gray hair in my ear this morning.

And so it begins...

TAMU, Knower of Ball

There really should be a student booster club or something. They could easily whip the student section into shape.

TAMU

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I hate to think it but this wouldn't happen with the Cameron Crazies

Been done before, never lasts through graduating classes.

Back in my day I would have already been in a tent in front of the Bradley Center so I could be the first inside for the Southern game.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Let me rephrase. I can almost guarantee it wont happen for a couple of reasons. I personally know every recruit that MU is after but I would say that is a very small group of people. Secondly, whenever Diamond Stone would pass by the student section last year and people would always be saying "Diamond come to Marquette" or whatever it was, he looked more annoyed then anything. Also, I just dont see the point. If its not going to be good and cohesive then why do it? I cant see many students being on board with that and it would just be sloppy and unproductive if only a handful of students do it. You'd be surprise how angry some students get at us in the first few rows because we try to get everybody to do the same thing. You have no idea how difficult it really is.

Doubtful.

Eh, media does a pretty good job of keeping up with all recruits and I follow it more so then my school work at times. That doesnt take away from my other points though. Im sick and tired of the student section bashing.

Couldn't some event or group be created on Facebook with Marquette students invited (from an MU group) that prepares students for the upcoming chants?  That way more people might be on board when the students directing the chants start doing it.  Enough people care about the success of the team where it wouldn't be difficult chanting some names during timeouts as Brew mentioned.  It's comes down to the dedication of those organizing it.  And a chant for a player is a lot better than random people shouting out to them.  What high school star doesn't want to hear a major college team's fan base chanting their name?

reinko

Where is the blue man?  That guy is awesome.   Maybe his dad  could call in a few favors to get the chants going.

Jay Bee

Most memorable chants from the past few years for me:

We Are Marquette at the end of the Georgetown game (in DC). Loud. TV broadcast picked it up.

Karen Sypher chant while hosting Louisville. Loud. TV broadcast picked it up.

He's too good for that crap.  He's already been on the jumbotron, ESPN, and SI's cover.  Leave him alone!

Facebook? That went out with powdered wigs! Twitter and Snapchat are where it's at now. Although, that will change by the time I hit "Post."

I think the student section should organize an outing to go to the badger game in Madison on Dec 7. Nothing was better than the "We Are Marquette" chant flowing through the Kohl Center!

You will soon join the craze that is student section bashing.  The students will never be as loud, devoted, and creative as when you were a part of it.

Canned Goods n Ammo

After you graduate, you can start bashing the students and wear turtlenecks & t-shirts tucked into your jeans.

It's great.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Still have Spencer, myself and a bunch of other juniors that are always there.

Please, please, please get rid of the "I Believe" chant. I'm a student. I hate doing it. It never sounds good, at least last year. Tell the other people up front to not do it. You have until Friday's pre-game pep rallly to come up with a better cheer.

There is no need to get rid of it. We just need to refine it and make it better. When in unison, it sounds pretty good.
