It's out of line and rude. I won't eat there and I will pray for their sins.

If they're not total p****** they'll get add some menu offerings to get some chuckles off of other religions too.

Making fun of Catholics is a hobby of many liberals and losers. Most of them wouldn't dare say a word about Islam though.

Islam is just as nonsensical as Catholicism.  Happy?

Yes well, unless the US has been occupying Afghanistan for the last 800 years, the comparison is a bit of a stretch.

Wait, it's "out of line and rude", but you hope they do it to another religion also?

Hilarious. I can't wait for them to come out with the Muhammad Special Bacon-Wrapped Pork Burger. I'm sure it's on it's way, right?

LOL......and exactly right.  The uproar by the left and the media (is that redundant?) would be fun to watch.  Get the popcorn out.  Of course, the restaurant owner would also likely be dead within a week and his restaurant fire bombed, but hey whats the big deal.

I swear there is some kind of listserv where a slice of our country gets emailed stories every week, to foam at the mouth, feign outrage, and play the victim.  Where can I sign up?  This seems very healthy.

46 days to the war X-Mas begins!  Then of course after that, the fact MLK has his own day, (and did you know about his past, he slept with women outside of his marriage, and had links to the Black Panthers!!)  Then February rolls around, and of course black history month.  Why isn't there white history month?  Or Asian history month?  Or german history month?  You know why?  LIBERALS AND THE MEDIA!  Then of course the Spring rolls around, and some random school in boo foo Kansas cancels an Easter Egg hunt, because of LIBERAL NAZI SOCIALISTS believe in separation of church and state, and the school is forced to have a Spring fuckin' jamboree instead of the Easter bunny.  Then of course the early summer, FLAG WAVING TIME KIDDOS!  Memorial day and the 4th of July in the same 5 weeks?  WEEEEEE!  Get those flag pins out, and "these colors don't run" 9/11 magnets for your cars.

If only we had a 10-year-old phone poll of self-identified Catholics we would know whether or not it's OK for a Catholic to be offended by a hamburger.

Can't wait for Rick Reilly to weigh in.

No. You're creating things that were never said. My hope is that they remove this item from the menu and publicly admit that they realize it was a bad move. Then, I hope they join the Catholic church, are forgiven and saved.

I also hope they give you a job. You're a good line cook and don't deserve to be unemployed this long.

Those listservs are mainstream....right on your front pages, your email inbox, your favorite websites, television screens, and more.  Ever watch Rachel for an hour or then watch Glenn?  Both sides.

Don't forget Grandma won't get her Social Security check, the debt ceiling is critical now (somehow wasn't in the 2000's), deficits don't matter now (but sure did 10 years ago), 9-11 was an inside job, etc.

I did like your rant.

And, for anybody that didn't read the article, the restaurant regularly does burgers that are tribute to their favorite bands. In this case, the band is "Ghost" from Sweden. (google "ghost" to see what they wear on stage).

So, while I won't excuse the restaurant completely, I don't think they are out specifically trying to pick on Catholics and created this burger.

Rage on, gentleman!

Weird, we do polling all the time via phone for elections and now all of a sudden it is suspect and called out by a non-polling expert.   :D

Glad to see the Redskins came out swinging and used that data point yesterday.  Good for them.

Your inventing reasons to argue, Chico's. Who said anything about phone polls being suspect?
The question of those particular polls' validity stem from the fact they allowed for self-identification as Native American and are a decade old. I doubt many people would point to a 2002 poll to show current public opinion on the war in Afghanistan or same-sex marriage, but apparently it's totes legit when it comes to this nickname.

But the fact remains, until we conduct a poll of Catholics, there's no true way of knowing whether this is an offensive lunch item or not. That, I've learned here from you, is the correct way to determine whether or not offense is legitimate.

Some people are outraged over the Redskins nickname.  Some of those same people are perfectly fine with a crucifix in a jar of piss but are hell bent that if we say Under God in the Pledge that we are going to grow a third eyeball.

If I interpreted your comments incorrectly, I apologize.  I took them as the time period (10 years ago) and the tactic (phone poll) are now questionable.  I believe you said something close to that in the other thread where you didn't care for the "process" of how the questions were asked or whatever it was....basically concern with the validity.  If that wasn't you, my bad.

I think what you should have learned from me is that there will ALWAYS be someone complaining about this stuff, pretending to be outraged or often actually outraged.  And there will be people that have no skin in the game (pun intended) that will be outraged on behalf of others that they feel should be outraged.  It's a business these days, to out outrage someone.  That would have been my takeaway.  The guy runs a private restaurant, if he wants to put a Eucharist on the burger and take a dump on it, that is his choice.  If people don't like it, they won't buy it or visit the place.   Hell, he can serve a crucifix in a jar while he is at it.  The other takeaway should be, if the shoes were reversed and this was done against another religion, the OUTRAGE MACHINE would be on tilt from the press.

Again, more "theoretical outrage" about something that hasn't even happened.

I think the evidence is there, one just needs to pay attention to the media and the outrage machine.  It's not theoretical at all in my opinion.  Look at the stories about a Koran being destroyed vs a bible destroyed.  Are they the same?  Are they treated the same?  Is the outrage level the same?  Just one example, but there are so many.  Certain things are allowed and will not be reported on. Other things in the same ballpark will not only be reported, it will rule the day(s) of outrage and pontificating because that's the agenda.  Straight guy holding a sign gets beat up at gay rally, hardly a peep.  Gay guy beat up at straight rally...time stands still.  Racial deaths (black on black)...ho hum.  White on black...time stands still.  Black on white...whistling through the meadows.  Guy is totally against raising the debt ceiling 6 years ago and called it failed leadership is same guy last three years saying we must raise the debt ceiling or the end of the world is coming.  You simply can't make this stuff up and the outrage on both sides is comical.  Nothing theoretical, right in front of our eyes.

Probably shouldn't waste any energy on it, but I find it entertaining at this point.
