Anyone know what the agenda is for midnight madness? I've never gone but from what I have read in the past it is a cheap production.

I hear what your saying Brew.  I just hope a stud recruit anywhere puts more into such an important decision than if he enjoys the 2 hour showcase that is Midnight Madness.

My understanding of the situation is the same as Brew's. IU is still on the list only if MArquette doesn't pan out.  He didnt cancel but rescheduled.  It is also more than just a 2 hr showcase as he will get to see the campus, meet all of his teammates, etc.  Remember Hill is from Georgia and has not seen campus yet and in my mind it makes sense to get a feel for where you are going to live for four yrs prior to arriving.

I am sure he does. Hill has come to know Buzz well and he seems to have been Buzz's top priority for the better part of the past year. I feel like Madness is the effective sealing of the deal. If it goes well and Hill still has faith in all Buzz has told him coming in, a solid visit will just assure him that Marquette is the place and Buzz is the coach for him.

You are referring to the Crean years.

Yeah, can you believe they even give away Sweet 16 rings in the past at those events.....so beneath a school of MU's caliber to even have such items.

All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Is this true?  What's wrong with MM and why wouldn't the program invest in making it better. Is it not well attended?  I've never been to one and I can't understand why it would not be great considering the awesome  fan support at the school and city.
Silenzio. Parla il moomoo.

Has not been Midnight Madness for a long time.  Its now Marquette Madness and the event starts well before midnight.

Women's team first intros pumped up speech and scrimmage. Then Men's similar activities-- depending on the coach you may see karate outfits, boards being broken, atvs being ridden, etc. Usually some MU nbaers and a dunk contest. There may even be a singing contest if all goes well.

Very very low.

When Wade came he was recovering from an injury.

When everyone came the NBA was locked out.

I'd guess the best bet is Jimmy 90 miles south but even that seems unlikely.

There won't be any karate demos, ATV ridin', or hyperbaric chambers on display.

I remember DWade showing up last year or maybe two years ago because somebody tweeted him about it.  Can someone on Twitter please tweet him about it this year as well?

EDIT: Just read Titan's post

I don't know if he has come in the past. But I thought he was going to be at this one. Anyone know if this is true?

I hope so. It seems like there is at least a partial possibility that either Hill or Shayok or both may commit on the spot. Stone may get caught up in the moment...

If Crean had any class, dignity, and self respect (fat chance), he'd move on.

I hoping that Miller, Hill and Shayok all commit. However, I cannot believe Buzz is essentially putting all his eggs in one basket, by having them all attend MU madness as their official visit. MU madness overall has been a bust with our recruiting. A bad production could result in us losing all three.

I think this is a total overreaction, Buzz has recruited Hill for a long time.

Bulls have an Oct. 12  preseason game in Rio de Janeiro,  so I'm guessing it's a no for JFB.

I'm confused, are you saying that Buzz doesn't want these guys or that Buzz is not a competent recruiter?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

When a recruit attends Marquette madness he witnesses a huge production that takes up coaches time, so the coaches do not focus on the recruit as much compared to a recruit that comes in on a different weekend where the coaches can pay attention to the recruit. When you bring in three at once it further dilutes the individual attention given the recruit. It also is a gamble that the three recruits get along. As they say one bad apple can spoil the whole bushell.

Disagree with all of this. The coach isn't going to be with the recruit 24 hours a day for the entire weekend anyways. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the coach didn't see the kid outside of the gym and maybe a meal here or there at all on these trips. He has plenty of time to hand out quality time to all 3 recruits, no issue.

As far as the huge event, Buzz doesn't do anything for it. He shows up and talks but he's certainly not spending time planning what is going on and he's not spending time in the spotlight at Madness on an ATV. He spends much more time walkin through the stands shaking fans hands than anything. I would be beyond shocked if he wasn't sitting with each recruit and any family the recruit brought with him during some of Madness.

Let the recruits get just a bit of a taste for what playing at Marquette is like. Then tell him 4x the fans fit into the BC for home games to come watch them play. Have all 3 talk about the big things they could do together and recruit each other. "If you commit I'll commit." I'm guessing Buzz has some sort of ideas as to what recruits will get along and what won't, which is all part of recruiting kids and putting together a program.

I'm not so sure about that. The coaches have a set amount of time they can spend with visiting recruits regardless of what weekend it is. I suppose we'll see this weekend. From a number of reports, it sounds like Hill and Shayok may be close to decisions. If things go well, we can discount the "Madness is a drawback" idea. If we lose all three, maybe there was something to it. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that Erik Williams and Vander Blue were committing on the heels of Madness visits. I'm optimistic this is the year we get back to that.
