One of Al's players. Good defender, very quick. Knew the game. New York Tough.
Was with Gary Brell, Joe Thomas, Ric Cobb, and Gary Grzesk.

Sad time for Warriors all over the country. Dean was without a doubt the smartest college basketball player, on the court, I've ever seen. No one controlled tempo and handled the rock like Meminger.
And, that Cheshire Cat smile.....

And Chones, McGuire, Frazier and Lackey.  He was some type of player, but personal demons took over his life.

Still remember him in the bumblebees......

Maybe no difference, Harlem is in Manhatten.  Manhatten hotel room does sound nicer.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

At least TC knew what college he attended--I wonder if he was one of his favorites?

While I'm all for ripping on Crean about as often as possible, this is one of the few places it's not necessary. Whether Crean Twatted that with some sort of agenda or to simply name drop or not, let's keep this 1 to thoughts and prayers for a fallen Warrior. RIP Dean.

I believe the "Manhattan" hotel was on 145th.  That's a few blocks up from the St. Regis.

Very sad.  At least now he has the peace he couldn't find in life.  Thoughts and prayers to his son.

Great quote from Al who said Meminger was "quicker than 11:15 Mass at a seaside resort."

RIP Dean Meminger-----living in the Milwaukee area in the 1970s, it was always very exciting to watch Dean the Dream and MU.

Thank you for your great contributions to MU------you always will be recognized as one of the all time greats to play for Marquette.

RIP Dean Meminger

Wow.  A guy that's been registered at scoop for 5 years, and saved his 14th post for today.  That's dedication Dean would appreciate.

Yes I dont post much-----I am on the site almost every day.

Dean Meminger was an all time great at Marquette-----its a sad day for all MU fans. I am just about his age, so I feel sad at his passing at such a young age.

The picture of Dean with NIT trophy above his head was etched into my memory decades ago and still brings back goosebumps. He was smooth beyond belief and really set the standard for guards at MU. Great memories and appreciation for he what he gave to the program. He is definitely in my prayers.

Thanks for the memories.
