Because those guys were considered 5* before their senior year and Lammers is not at 4* status yet.  I said nothing about his actual college/pro potential, I'm merely saying that his situation is potentially more like Gardner's (overlooked all the way through to day 1 on campus) than the other 3 you mentioned (from virtually nothing to 5* before their senior year with offers from blue bloods hangin' out the anus complete with 1 & done hype).

I want Lammers on the squad and am not questioning Buzz' ability to spot under the radar talent.

Embiid was a three star going into his senior season. He didn't blow up until mid-winter. Blammers is a four star entering his senior season.

I don't think he's the next Embiid, but I do think he could be a great contributor early. If only because we will be very shallow at the five next season.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

MuMark

I agree with you that Lammers would be a great fit and I hope we get him.

He is not a 4 star now however in any ranking that I have seen.

ps. Is it to much to ask that we spell the names correctly of kids who are about to visit?

He goes by the nickname "Blammers" b/c of his thunderous dunks.

My main point is that Buzz has done a good job mining talent and that he finds guys before they peak. I imagine if they went back 4 years and rated Gardner's class on college/pro productivity, he'd be top-50 at worst. I'm not saying Lammers will ever match the recruiting ranking, just that I like Buzz's odds of uncovering a big that might be far better regarded in a year than he is now.

As far as college productivity, Gardner is a top 5 center from his class.

Here are my 3 rules in discussing MU recruits:

1.  I don't know how to evaluate the potential of HS talent translating to D-1
2.  Buzz does
3.  Players improve in the MU program

Here are my 3 rules in discussing any HS recruit:

1.  They are kids
2.  I don't know them nor their families
3.  I respect #s 1 and 2 before ever commenting.

Here are my 3 rules regarding scotch:

1.  Single malt
2.  No ice
3.  Buy it from a HS kid who is serving it at your country club and has no idea that the full glass they just poured is worth 10 times the $8.00 they charged you.

What about a splash of water?

Dawson Rental

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

If you go no ice and a splash of water in a single malt you should be put against the wall and shot.

We are in complete agreement there.

Any confirmation that he is on campus?  It seems that so many visits get delayed or moved or whatever.

If he is on campus, here is hoping to some good news this weekend.  It sure would be nice if he commits, especially since he is supposed to visit Miami in two weeks.

I have hard time seeing him go to Miami. They are in the lead for Quandri Moore, a top 100 center in Blammers class. As a center, I wouldn't commit if there was going to be another center in my class. You can have multiple SGs, SFs, and PFs on the floor, but only one center. But he might like the challenge of outplaying another center for playing time, so who knows?

If instant playing time is a high priority for him, Marquette is an easy choice.
