I don't think anything is either allowed or not, but no one would bat an eye at asking players to sign a ball for you.  It's a casual atmosphere, and the players are there to interact with you.

Couple years ago the BBQ was held just after Jimmy Buckets was drafted by the Bulls.  Kid was on Cloud 9 and he and Zar were trash talking each other on a live remote of Homer's show saying how they were going to 'school' each other, etc.

Homer had the line of the day by saying that would be tough from the far ends of two respective benches.  Priceless and all in very good fun.

Huh?

Aren't you from TN? Memphis is an epicenter of BBQ excellence, specializing in pork. Corky's Q has a wet sauce while the Rendezvous ribs have a dry rub. I have some friends who fly MD 11's for FedEx out of Memphis. They have sent me care packages of Memphis Q during deployments. Second best thing for morale.

Rudy's of San Antonio is a great example of Texas beef brisket. TN vs. TX is really pig vs. cow, sweet vs. spicy, and hickory vs. mesquite

Chill, Keefer.  I was making fun of all your military lingo there.

And I am from Nashville.  We're known for our hot chicken, not barbecue.
Have some patience, FFS.

Yeah, Carrie Underwood is one hot chicken.

She's a carpetbagger.  From Oklahoma.

Now that is hubris. Some guy in Seattle lecturing a gal from TN on BBQ. Really, Chick, it's ok to tell me to STFU.

Awesome town -- I lived there (Hillsboro Village area) back in the 90s.  Loved tacos from SATCO at night, and lining up at Pancake Pantry on Sunday mornings.  Good times....

My stance in all of these debates can be summed up as:  More anything?  More everything.
There's no wrong answer with BBBQ.

I agree. The worst BBQ I ever had was outstanding. Kinda like oral in a way. No such thing as a bad Jay Bee.

I don't ever remember having to wait to eat at Pancake Pantry.  Of course, that was back before all you northerners moved down there and clogged up all the cool places....

I suppose all of y'all have taken over The Bar-B-Cutie as well....

Only if it's a cool place.... ;)

my wife and I have gone to all the BBQ s and have not failed to get a picture with Buzz. He is the most accommodating
person I have seen at these type of events. Yes there is a line but he gets to everyone and spends time with you not just a cursory handshake. Usually about 1500 to 2000 people present. Many current and past players are there as well and most are very willing to pose for photos. I think its the best event MU puts on.

Have to disagree. I had BBQ once and the sauce was so sweet, I'd swear I was eating candy. It had me flipping like Ferguson at Midnight Madness. I prefer the spicy, Kansas City style of BBQ or the vinegar dipped, North Carolina BBQ.

Ran into 2 guys in St. Louis who were from Kansas City at 2002 NCAA Tourney. They said one rule for good BarBQ is there must be bars on the windows. Gave a couple recommendations in KC that turned out pretty damn good. In the rougher areas of town but damn good Q.

Visiting the gas-station joint Oklahoma Joes during the CBE Classic for Marquette a few years ago is the pinnacle for bbq imho.  I believe this location was actually in Kansas City, KS... a short drive from the Sprint.

KC BBQ is world class for beef. I don't think they do pork as well as Memphis. I always liked Bryant's and Smokestack in the Bottoms (you can see the MO River flood water stains on the walls.) Gates is also good if a bit too commercial. OK Joe's is a new development that I am not familiar with.
