I live in Appleton and am thinking of making the 2 hr trip to Milwauke with my 2 kids (8 mos and 20 mos) to the BBQ to get a pic with Buzz.  What are the chances of this happening?

Markusquette

Probably more likely since you have little children.

How is the BBQ? I mean is it like real Tejas BBQ or is it like Milwaukee BBQ?

Is that a real poncho...I mean
Is that a Mexican poncho
Or is that a Sears poncho?
Hmmm...no foolin ...

so its not a given?  do I have to wait in a line or just stalk him?

mu_hilltopper

It's as a "given" as the effort you want to put into it.   It's not like there's a formal line everyone goes through.

Buzz comes out, he moves through the crowd.  Sure, some people stalk him.

I'd say if you wanted to, and were willing to put in some minutes of time, yeah, there's a 80+% chance you could get your picture with him.

Players and coaches are very accessible .. wouldn't surprise me if there are MUBB alumni there, like a Novak or Butler.

WI inferiority Complexes

You'll realize when your kids are a little older than anything you did "for them" when they were under two years old was not worth it.  If you want a picture of Buzz with your two children, you can certainly get one at the BBQ.  Personally, unless you you want to attend the BBQ, I'd wait until two or three years until your kids will be able to enjoy the inflatable slide, bucking bronco, etc.

It's actually pretty decent for banquet-quantity 'cue. And yes, it's closer to something you would get at a joint in Dallas than at Speed Queen.
Have some patience, FFS.

Wow, I haven't heard anyone quote 'Camarillo Brillo' in many  years!!  Good to know your education was well-rounded.  I believe that's the same album with 'Montana' on it..., one of my favorites.

As I understand it, if you wait 2 or 3 years, you'd have to go to the bbq at Austin, TX.

I still hear Montana in my brain as I reach for the dental floss each morning.

The album is Over-Nite Sensation which also featured Dirty Love and Dinah Moe Humm. Classic stuff.

A while back I just so happened to find myself on campus the day of the BBQ and Buzz was there at a table/grill in front of Lalumiere Hall with nobody really around him.  It was well before the BBQ started.  As I headed toward subway I saw a bunch of alums (older people wearing MU gear) headed toward where the BBQ was.  In short, I think you can get a pic with him if you get there early enough.

Man, I have had Rudy's in San Antonio many times but Corky's wet and The Rendezvous dry from your home state is some of the finest smoked meat this old fighter pilot has had the privilege to eat. Some Fed Ex MD 11 bros made sure to get some Corky's shipped over to me in A-Stan time and again. Damn sight better than D-Fac chow and the fact that it was pork made it all the better.
