GGGG

Reminds me of the early days of ESPN.

I wonder how long before FS1 is televising the National Grammar Rodeo.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I actually think it would be kinda cool if FoxSports1 brought back some of those old "Wide World of Sports" events.

Remember the barrel jumping on ice skates?  Is that even a sport any more?

Or "Superstars"!  That show was awesome!  What I wouldn't give to see Mike Tyson or Clay Matthews almost drown in the swimming competition a la Joe Frazier.  Bring back the obstacle course!
Have some patience, FFS.

The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

We tried to resurrect SuperStars a few years ago here.  In today's day and age, athletes want no part of it.  Too much risk of injury.  Back then, it was a way for them to make extra income, but much like all-star games are largely non-contact fluff events today, things like SuperStars is out, at least for the athletes people actually want to see.  Maybe we weren't offering enough scratch.   ;)

I figured that was the reason.  I also remember that they did a female version once, and it being the early '70's and all, it was apparently really tough for them to find enough professional female athletes to put together a show. As I recall, the winner was a professional billiards player I had never heard of.  Kathy Rigby didn't fare too well.

They should at least put the old shows on ESPN Classic or something.  I remember Lynn Swan setting a record in the obstacle course.  He cleared the high jump bar by leaping over it like it was a hurdle.  It was amazing.

Also, bring back Team Superstars.  Having the World Series winning baseball team going against the Super Bowl champions in the tug of war was epic!
Have some patience, FFS.

Why would the National Grammar Rodeo be held in Canada?

Not sure... maybe ask Langdon Alger.

Hey, stop taking my quotes out of context!

As a competitive swimmer, I thought it was awesome that there was a sport in which I was better at than most professional athletes.

Have some patience, FFS.

We watched those, we were drinking in a TGIFriday's several years ago on a weekday afternoon and that was on and it was followed by National Pairs Tiddlywinks Championship (I'm serious, no teal!)

That's because Erin Andrews is now at Fox.
