"Duke's 2013 recruiting class ranks No. 6 in the country, according to Recruiting Nation's updated rankings, even though the Blue Devils only signed three players. This week, Duke has a chance to make a positive impression on one of 2014's top talents, with a big in-home visit scheduled.
Kevon Looney (Milwaukee, Wisc./Milwaukee Hamilton High), ESPN's No. 7 recruit in 2014, holds offers from many of the top schools around the Midwest -- in-state schools Marquette and Wisconsin, along with Michigan, Michigan State and Cincinnati. But this week, the 6-foot-7 power forward will welcome visitors from Duke.

"It's coming up on Wednesday," Looney tells TheDevilsDen.com of the in-home with Duke. "I'm pretty sure Coach K is coming and I'm not sure if any assistants are coming.

"... I've talked to (the Duke coaching staff) a lot lately. My Dad talked to them a couple of times and I talked to assistant Nate James last week. Coach K said he wants me to come there. I've only talked to him twice though." "

Is this the week the Blue Devils move towards the top of Looney's list? It could be. We'll let you know what Looney has to say later in the week when more details emerge.

I would be stunned if he stayed in state.

Yep, he might be a lost cause. TBH I'm more worried about Stone, but I think we're in a much better situation with him.

Gotta love Special K. He's talked to the young man twice and they probably can't open the front door fast enough.

Hope he doesn't fall for the sales pitch.  We want Looney at Marquette!!!  He can help MU win the championship and be a part of history while his family and friends watch!

I don't think Looney has ever had much interest in MU.

Of course, he won't.  I pretty sure that Coach K has a flight back to NC later tomorrow.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Interesting article. Diamond Stone's dad seems to have the right philosophy and I like the rules he has set up for his son. The recruiting process must just be overwhelming for some of these guys.

Don't understand the pessimism and negativity.  If I were Looney I would star at Marquette.  He can play in front of family and friends and play with friends, and get to the NBA.  At Duke he will be one of many.  To hell with Duke!

This entire post contradicts itself big time.  You don't understand people being pessimistic and negative, yet you say that at Marquette he would be a star while at Duke he would just be another guy.  What does that say about where you think Marquette is as a program?

GoldenZebra

Yeaaaaah MU landing Looney is just that..loony toons.

Just being positive and wishing it would happen won't make it occur.  He simply hasn't shown much interest in MU and Buzz is cutting his losses and moving on.

Off topic, but in that article they label Creighton as a mid major. So how long till they are considered high major in the new conference?

As long as they don't have a football team in one of the "power 5" conferences.

Think Duke is where he ends up? I was a Tokoto fan, but Looney is far superior player. Aside from Duke any other leaders in the clubhouse?

One of many, but a chosen few.  Not many people get to play at Duke...yes, among other stars there but few get the chance.

Tums Festival

I've never felt we've had much of a chance with Looney and doubt we're even in his top 5. I feel more optimistic about our chances with Diamond Stone.
