I heard Rice is on his way to meet friends for some jet skiing on the Colorado River.

Mike n mike just led with it.  Not good for rice's job.

Tim Pernetti got his ass handed to him in a hat by Jermey Schapp on OTL.  Saw the replay last night and after that you just know Rice is getting fired.  Why try and salvage a complete tool who has a losing record?  Makes no sense and that is why Rutgers will continue to suck until they make a complete overhaul.

Not to mention, Govenor Christi weighed in with an opinion too.

AD Pernetti meeting with Rice this morning.  Firing Rice is the only option now, as there's no way he'd be able to recruit high-major and NCAA Tournament caliber players to that program.  Unfortunately for Pernetti, he may be too late and I wouldn't be surprised to see his job threatened too.

Quote@Record_Tara: Axe about to fall. Source confirms Rutgers players told in early morning hours that Mike Rice will be fired.

Why is that unfortunate?

Mike Rice let go....This should've been done immediately after seeing the video. The administration was definitely pressured after all the heat it got from the OTL report.

can't be true...chico's ain't that your boy?

had a coach like that...i wasn't a tough guy by any means, but if i ever felt like someone was trying to push me around on the court i wouldn't stand for it.  the coach never went after me in the same fashion as some of the other kids...also left the players with similar mentalities as me a lone.  when he was called out for it, he said he didn't have to come after us because we were already men.  was a complete crock...he just went after the kids that he knew wouldn't fight back.  wonder if rice is the same way.  those kids could have laid him out, and there would have been nothing he could do about it.

it's always a fine line, as al would get into it with players, but when you'd talk to al about it, he'd say he did it to players that he knew would come back at him.

I got along with Mike very well off the court, socially.  Never saw him act this way on the court.  Then again, I saw a few practices with KO, Bobby Knight, Roy, etc, that were right up there with this one...sans the ball throwing.  Thank God cell phones with cameras didn't exist when KO was coach off the court and on the court.

It's unfortunate for him that he wasn't smart enough to make the firing in December and save his job.

No...Chicos has 13,000.  One of the reasons I post a lot is that I do a lot of writing for my job...and everytime I'm stuck on something, I usually come here or some other message board.  It kick starts my brain a lot.
Apparently you get stuck a lot.  :)

The Rutger's fans already have their new coach lined up.  Ben Howland is #1 on wish list and sports talk.
Obviously since it's a Big Teen job they have their pick of any coach.  That's what I learned from Minnesota last week.

I don't see it.  You feel unfortunate for someones bad judgement and stupidity?

Amazing how media shifts human mindset on what right and wrong is as time goes by.

In 80 years raising your voice and yelling at refs and young adult athletes will be considered abuse, causing gasps of horror.

I feel unfortunate that you're hanging on that word.  I don't "feel" anything for anyone at Rutgers.  Let me start over:

If Pernetti would have fired Rice in December he wouldn't have any concerns about whether or not he loses his job.

ChicosBailBonds

I think this sums it up pretty good for those of us that worked with Mike in the past...a side we didn't know.

never attended a ko or bobby knight practice...they seem like jerks as well.

roy williams is a different story...saw a few of his practices, and the guy wouldn't even swear.  he'd get on players, but a far stretch from what the rice video shows.

lute olson was really classy with his players, and i think that, among plenty of other things made KO unpopular at zona.

Roy swears from time to time, not nearly as much as KO, but he had his moments.
