Wow, can't wait to see the entire Outside The Lines episode on this one.  Attached is a short preview and writeup.

That will not help recruiting.

Yeah, a head coach that throws basketballs at player's heads and calls them a bunch of gay slurs probably isn't going to win a lot of recruiting battles.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Why would you say that?

Don't mistake what I'm about to say, because I think that's awful...

But if were a real problem with players, wouldn't more of them have transferred? How does he reign in talent like Harrison?

Also, there's no way he keeps his job after this article/video, right?

Edit: I'm dumb

Rice and the AD need to be fired on this one.  No room for that kind of behavior in real life let alone sports.
"A Plan? Oh man, I hate plans. That means were gonna have to do stuff. Can't we just have a strategy......or a mission statement."

Harrison is on St John's, this is Rutgers and there is no way this is ever ok.  This is like 1960's drill sergeant behavior, totally unacceptable.  Suspend players, make them run sprints, assign school work...anything but physical assault.

can't be true...chico's ain't that your boy?

had a coach like that...i wasn't a tough guy by any means, but if i ever felt like someone was trying to push me around on the court i wouldn't stand for it.  the coach never went after me in the same fashion as some of the other kids...also left the players with similar mentalities as me a lone.  when he was called out for it, he said he didn't have to come after us because we were already men.  was a complete crock...he just went after the kids that he knew wouldn't fight back.  wonder if rice is the same way.  those kids could have laid him out, and there would have been nothing he could do about it.

it's always a fine line, as al would get into it with players, but when you'd talk to al about it, he'd say he did it to players that he knew would come back at him.

AD made a statement backing Rice.  Said it was an internal issue and handled.  Well, now it is an external issue and they are getting absolutely killed in the media.  Once boosters see this stuff, the game changes.

Who gives it a week till gone?

Not a chance it takes that long. If the pres of the University has any stones, Rice and the AD are gone tomorrow.

GGGG

I wonder if he did this kind of stuff at Robert Morris as well?

martyconlonontherun

Not saying this behavior is acceptable but I bet it happens from at least a dozen d-1 coaches. My hs football coach was like this minus the ball throwing. He lasted a long long time before getting let go and coaching somewhere else.

I don't think some of the grabbing is as bad as the video looks because you see coaches do that all the time to get players to hit a spot aggressively. That said if this is what was caught on tape, I could only imagine the locker room after a loss.

Groin_pull

So, is Rice a leader or a legend?

Totally OT... you've gotta be the only one over 10000 posts, right? What's your total time logged in?

No...Chicos has 13,000.  One of the reasons I post a lot is that I do a lot of writing for my job...and everytime I'm stuck on something, I usually come here or some other message board.  It kick starts my brain a lot.
