So has anyone heard any updates on this?  I read in The Trib 5 or 6 years ago that this was going to happen, but since then, nothing.

I see that you can get Notre Dame plates now. I wonder how many incidents of road rage those have sparked...

I actually ran into Jesse White walking into a restaurant a few years ago, but I didn't think to ask him.  He did give me his card, though, and I still have it....maybe I should give him a ring...
Have some patience, FFS.

Jesse White of the Jesse White Tumblers?

Haven't seen them at half-time in ages.

Yep. Same guy. He is also the Illinois Secretary of State.

At the time I was with my not-quite-sixteen-year-old son.  He handed him a business card as well, saying, "If you ever get pulled over, show this to the policeman".  That's Illinois for you.

Then he laughed and said, "I'm just kidding. If I find out you really did that, I WILL pull your license."

Actually, it's entirely up to Jesse:

625 ILCS 5/3-629
(a) "In addition to any other special license plate, the Secretary... may issue collegiate license plates."
(b) "The Secretary [of State] shall prescribe the eligibility requirements including a minimum level of specialized license plates requests."

So basically, someone with pull has to contact Jesse and get him to pull the trigger.  And when I say "with pull," I mean someone who raised a few thousand for his last campaign, because of course, nothing gets done in this state without greasing the wheels.

My guess is that someone from MU likely already has (made contact, not funneled cash), but either Jesse wanted a ridiculously high number of minimum registrations or a six-figure "design fee."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

To the twitters!

Yeah, I recall seeing that a 5-6 years ago too.  That would be the only instance I'd consider getting a specialty plate.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

If Jesse White can't get it done, try Jesse Jackson.

I don't think IL is unique in this respect.

Or his son...he's got time on his hands

Just put an MU sticker over the other "specialty" logo.  There was a dude in my neighborhood a few years back that had a Packers plate, but he stuck a Steelers Sticker on instead.

I'd move out of that trailer park if I were you.

I think that is technically considered to be defacing the plate. Don't need to give cops a reason to pull me over other than my lead foot.

Can't you just use your "feminine charms" to get out of the ticket?

*Sigh*  That worked a lot better when I was an 18-year-old with a southern accent and long blonde hair.
