Anyone know how ticket sales are going?

And if you want to post tiresome cliches about alumni sitting in their hands, that the student section sucks, or we don't know how to distract opposing FT shooters, why wait for the game, have at it now.

Probably around 17k. About half of them will still be there at the under 8 timeout in the second half.

17,308 for Pitt last week.  Is Syracuse more or less?

schubert33

Less because of the start time, and the fact it's a Monday.

I guess more.

I'm glad Homer said on the postgame that there still are tickets. Many think it's a sell-out. This might some stupid, but some forgot you can still buy tickets at the Bradley Center window. It's cost less that way, as you don't pay the ticketmaster fee.

Can't make the 'Cuse game because of work, but my tickets are in good hands with my dad and sister going.  Team has bounced back well from every loss this year, here's hoping it happens again.

I figure this game is the best barometer of the team's talent all year...late in the season, at home against top 10 team, playing better athletes, forced to beat one of the best zone teams in basketball.

Put a couple Tix on the exchange and they sold quickly.  Not usually the case.

we will set a WI college basketball attendance record?

The current record ...

I'm guessing the Notre Dame game will have a much larger attendance.

Think so.  Some upper-level seats have sold for over $100 apiece, so I doubt there are going to be many empty seats.
Have some patience, FFS.

martyconlonontherun

The student facebook site has SU tickets selling for $10 mostly. Granted its last minute, so they are cheaper. ND is holding steady around $40.

There's huge chunks of seats available in a few upper deck sections. More than there were for Pitt. I'd be shocked if the crowd hits 18k tomorrow night.

Strange enough as it is to say it, but I don't care if the upper-corner sections are empty tonight, as long as the student section is filled for our last Big Monday.  Accordingly, setting an attendance record tonight will be lost on me if the upper bowl of the student section is half empty.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Students won't show tonight. It'll be near-empty at tip, half full by halftime.

Yup. There will still be seats available behind the band at tip.

Part of me wonders... if today's students can't get excited for a late-Feb match-up between two ranked teams tied for 2nd place in the Big East, what is the landscape of MU basketball going to look like in 25 years when these graduates have no desire to fill the seats that our baby-boomer alums won't be using anymore.

IOW, if today's product won't sell to a captive audience, how the heck are you going to sell it to them decades from now?

Good question. And it's an issue that goes far beyond MU. Watch any game on TV and there's a good chance you'll see plenty of empty seats...even at "sacred" places like UNC's Dean Dome. You also see it at football games too.

Duke's student section in 800 and they even have problems filling it.  Bucky's student section is 2,000 and they have problems filling it.

They just updated the map, many seats are still left.

Wow, that's a lot of empty seats. Probably looking at 15-16k for a crowd tonight.

Kinda pathetic for a game this big.

They are advertising $45/ticket for upper corners.  All other prices are higher.

Is this accurate?

You're not. This is an issue across all sports. There are always going to be the die-hards who are willing to brave the elements to watch a live game, but the number of die-hards is decreasing. More and more people (especially young people) prefer to watch the game on a 60" HD TV from the comfort of their living room.

IMO, teams are going to start building smaller arenas that they're able to fill but the stadiums will have more bells, whistles and luxury suites. Look at the Cubs' projected upgrades to Wrigley. They aren't expanding capacity of the stadium for the common fan, they want to build more "luxury areas" that will potentially  generate more money.

Where do you see that?
This is the premium priced game as uppers are $35 to $25. Those seats just three year ago where $25 to $15. I think the Marquette ticket office is getting carried away on the premium pricing.
