I give villanova's defense a ton of credit for the win, but our PG's remarkable ability to turn the ball over, and just play lousy in general is extremely disappointing. That pass to Wilson when he was all alone under the basket without a defender within 10 feet was a huge swing in that game. Crap like that simply cannot happen. Unfortunately, that was simply the most glaring of several mistakes.

I believe wilson slipped on a wet spot

I did not know that. Was watching in a bar with no sound. That being said, I'll move onto Juipr's other turnover trying to split a double team that was hugeat the time.

Start a thread called "why it's all junior's fault" and start by blaming him for the Meteor that hit Russia (he's Canadian ... They cannot be trusted)

Right, cause that's what I'm doing. Well done.

Villanova was the aggressor on their floor.   They played harder and smarter in their little bandbox.   The 1.5 pt favorite won by 4.    Sure, the game was winnable, but MU didn't make shots.   Life on the road in a tough conference.   Gotta let this stuff go.

MU didn't make shots?? They shot 45%. They out shot Nova, they killed them on the glass too. They just turned it over 5 more times than their average, get those 5 possessions back, score on 3 of them, Davante hits his two FT's, and there's MU's win.

Correct. Turnovers were the difference, plain and simple.

Do you know how many little girls in India, Nepal, Pakistan, China, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc... were sold into sexual slavery today? Do you know how many little boys were chained below decks today on some tramp steamer in Karachi and Mumbai and headed for Jeddah where they will be prostituted to Arab men?

It was a basketball game, man. It is supposed to help you take your mind off of war, mortgages, troubled teens, marital woes, a sh1tty job, financial woes, etc... relax.

By the way, Marquette is having a great year.
Maybe you saved someones life tonight....

tower912

I should have said...."MU didn't make the shots when it needed to to win tonight".    Turnovers were the bigger issue.   Some were flukes, (Jamil slipping on a wide open alley oop), some were boneheaded (dribbling through too many double teams, faking a shot and hitting Otule in the head with a pass), some were because Villanova played their scouting report extremely well.

The issue was turnovers.  Also, aren't we supposed to thrive against man to man?  I thought facing a zone was our death wish!  Where were our slashing penetrators who could finish or dish it to open 3 point shooters?

CTWarrior

One thing that bothered me tonight that led to some turnovers was that we passed up a lot of good shots trying to get better ones.  When you're playing a poor or disinterested defense that is sound strategy.  Tonight it was not.

The other thing is that when we miss 3 pointers from the wing to the corner our defensive rotation is not there and we give up runouts for easy hoops.  In a game like tonight when points are tough to come by that is a killer.

Painful loss today.  I was dreaming of a surprise BE regular season championship (probably unrealistic, I know), but that's going to be near impossible now.

As bad as it was (and it was bad), this wasn't even the Nova game that pissed me off the most - that one is still the BET game that was tight all the way until we left a guy open right under the basket with virtually no time left.

This is why it was so big that Georgetown beat Cuse today. No way MU is winning the title now. Hell, they may not even get a top 4 seed. Well done MU, way to f'n crap your pants....again. Never been so pissed off about an MU game in my life, and that's saying something because I've been pissed about a lot of them.

I will forget this game soon enough.   I still have and will continue to have nightmares about the Stanford game.

Yeah, the previous coach continues to give some of us nightmares.

Dukiet and Deane give me a lot more nightmares than the tan one ever did.  It's over, let him go.

We need better quality point guards to win.   Junior is playing too slow and too tentative.  Derek has no offensive game.  Buzz needs to adjust the line up and speed up the tempo to win.  The question is can he still do it this year or are we stuck until next year.

Have you been watching this team at all this year?  Up-tempo is not this team's strength...would have thought that would be apparent almost 30 games into the season.

The only teams with less possessions than MU are South Florida, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Georgetown.

Last year MU was #3 in the conference.  We play better slow this year.

This post from keefe, responding to the fine gentleman who started this thread, apparently was removed by a moderator:

It was a perfect response to a person who clearly needs to learn how to not place so much of his self-worth on the outcome of sporting events involving  18-to-22-year-old college students.

I'd love to hear why keefe's post was removed.

Politics?
I'm not a big fan of mixing politics with sports, either, but to me this was just stating that there are far more horrific situations one could get riled up about than a 4-point road loss to a good team.

So yes, while keefe could have stated it differently, he made a good point and it certainly was neither political nor controversial enough to be taken down.

IMHO.
