It's too bad our current AD is more worried about not playing "the hey song" during the 2nd half than he is helping the basketball program

The other board said the AD has directed the Band to stop playing that song. I trust the students will continue to let Mr Williams know their thoughts on this matter for the foreseeable future.

He's just the messenger...the request comes higher up and with $$$$ backing on the request.

Then in this case I say shoot the messenger. And the piano player.

Is your insight empiricism or a hunch?

That was the one day I was ashamed to say I was a Warrior. I had gathered with mates to watch from a sports bar at San Antonio. The taunts of friends stung but the shame was what hurt the most

Perhaps you grow a pair and not let a sporting event shame you.

Best poll ever. I literally laughed out loud.
I'm no fan of Tom Crean, but the fact that he was fired and had nowhere to go is no laughing matter. He has kids. Have some respect.

I was wondering the same thing - or if it's some inside joke I'm not getting?

April 1 2008.

I realize that's the date it was announced he was leaving. Have never heard until now that it was because he was fired, not that he left of his own volition.

Thanks for the honest answer,  Chicos. You know when you're laughing along with everyone else and then everyone else stops and you're still laughing...and then you go, derp...yeah.

No problem.  Some people like to laugh at made up basketball fiction...to each their own.   The world needs more laughter...   ;)

Don't know what was worse...being at the western Michigan game or watching the Michigan state game in public in Madison. F*ckin Michigan.

Lest we forget - Against MSU we were shutout for the first 10 minutes of the game...not a single point...

It happens, especially when one of your best players is in cast.  Remember two short years ago in the NCAA where over 10 minutes we scored a grand total of 4 points (15 for the half) while the other team scored 22 in the same time frame?  Went from a 8 to 8 game and 10 minutes later trailing 30 to 12 and ultimately 40 to 15 at the half.  Unfortunate, but it happens.

Thought this would be helpful and foster good conversation.

Lens,

Any insight on what sort of severance package Crean was given?

Yep. I am sure the coach instructed the team to miss their shots. Can't believe people are still whining about a coach who left years ago.

Back then, if Marquette made the field I would fork over the better part of $100 to get Direct's NCAA Ticket. And every year it cost me $100 to watch one game.

We never charged $100.  The most we ever charged was $79 (2010 pricing..the last year of the package, it was $69 prior and lower than that in the beginning years) and that got you 37 games.  I ran that business for many years.  Unfortunately Turner and CBS decided to replicate what we were doing (just like the NFL loved the Red Zone channel we invented and created their own) and started their own so the package doesn't exist any longer.  That was a lot of fun and I did everything I could to slip Marquette into the marketing...direct mail, some of the television spots, screen captures, online marketing, etc.

As I said, the better part of $100. Couldn't recall the exact amount. My wife though always used the $100 figure as she would tell me it would have been cheaper to fly down for just one game...and she used to be part of the basketball program!

At the time, that was the only way you could see your team in the first two rounds if you didn't live in their region so there was no question I was getting it. I remember I was the DO of the squadron and actually took leave for the day to watch Marquette play Alabama as the game was around noon on the west coast. That kid, Pierre (?), torched us for 30 some and we lost. When I got to the hangar the score was written in huge letters on my office white board.
