Also named as one of the five recruits whose stock is rising:

"JaJuan Johnson (Memphis, Tenn./Southwind)
Old Rank: No. 64
New Rank: No. 26
Signed with Marquette

Johnson is an athletic blend of a small forward and shooting guard who uses a low shoulder and quick first step to create his own shot. He runs the lane and knows how to get to the rim and finish in transition, which is one of his major strengths. Over the course of his senior year he has added reliability to his perimeter jumper to keep defenses honest. He plays with great energy and is working on his defense to apply pressure and become a complete player."

MUMountin

What were their previous ranks (besides JJJ)?

Abode4life

By my rough tallies...

SEC: 19
Current Big East: 18
ACC:12
Big 10: 12
Big 12:  11
Pac 12:  9
C7 + Xavier: 9
Other: 13

Also of note is that of the C7 + Xavier, MU has the top three recruits of the group.  It will be interesting to see going forward how any of the conference realignment impacts recruiting, if at all.

MisterJaylenBrownMU

MU up to #10 in ESPN's class rankings, which don't even consider Jameel McKay.  Not bad, my friends.

warriorchick

I find it interesting that the #1 recruit has only made one official visit, and another guy in the top 50 hasn't made any at all.  Is that common by mid-February of one's graduation year?
Have some patience, FFS.

Awesome to see JJJ rising - late risers almost always turn out well.  Which is why losing out on Embiid will haunt me for years.... <shivers> oh what could have been!

Lennys Tap

Watched #2 Findlay Prep beat #1 Montverde on the tube a few weeks back and was stunned that Nigel Goss-Williams was rated behind Stanford Robinson (#70 to Robinson's 56) on his own team. Robinson was OK, Goss-Williams was the best player on the floor. Well Goss-Williams is up to #20 and Robinson is at #98. Somebody at ESPN is paying attention.

Right now we have the #4 SG, the #10 SF and the #13 PG in addition to a juco AA power forward and a borderline top 100 PG. Embid is rated the #2 C, and, like JJJ, is rising. What is is awesome, what might have been is off the charts.

4th and State

Great to hear about JJJ.  I Feel like it's been awhile since we've had a recruit who actually has a reliable outside shot.

Andrew Wiggins reclassified to 2013 in late October. Unique case. But, everyone is different.

If he had signed with Duke, MSU, UNC, Kentucky or Kansas...yes. MU? No.

Awesome class.  I can't wait for these guys to hit campus.

Even though I try not to get hung up on missed recruits, it is hard not to think about what adding Embiid would have done.  But I'm assuming his huge jump in the rankings is partly based on him signing with Kansas.  He also said he was focused on developing into an NBA player and not concerned about playing time, which makes me think he will leave as soon as possible.

Glad we're steppin' up from mid-major players. Still need a stud in the middle to do some real damage.

This is usually an indicator of academic troubles.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Doc - Have you seen any of the Milwaukee kids play? If so, what's your take?

While it doesn't really mean anything at all yet, Diamond fell to #2 in class of 2015.

Diamond Stone "dominates the game as a sophomore.  He could be in the senior class and still be one of the best post players.  Diamond Stone is the man.  He is unstoppable physically and skill wise around the basket."

I've seen both Burton and Wilson, but not McKay. Although, I have gotten a very positive report on McKay from another Milwaukee player who has played with/against him in the park.
IMO, both Burton and Wilson should contribute immediately. Certainly, from a defensive viewpoint, Burton is very solid and has a big time college physique. Shot is a little unpredictable, but will mix it up inside. At around 6'5", though, he'll have to develop his J.
Bottom line: I like him a lot and he's Buzz' type of player. Expect him to make his mark at MU.

While Duane Wilson is not a pass first point guard, I'd love to see Buzz give him the rock from day one and fly with him. More upside than any guard on the current roster. Probably needs to get stronger, but I think there's room in his body for that. Seems to like to push the ball up the court, is an adequate defender and passer.
Bottom line: he's better overall than Derrick and, to me, a big improvement over Jr. for what I look for in a point guard. Can also play the 2 guard.

Thanks. Next year should be interesting on many levels.

Have seen both of them, and agree with 4ever. Deonte needs to tighten up a few things, but he has the most college ready body since Wesley. Very impressive instincts on the floor.

I've gushed enough about Wilson on here, but that cat can ball, and I love his mindset. I'd be very comfortable handing him the keys, like I was with Dominic as a freshman.
