Wow, that board is dead, last post before that one was Dec. 13th, and I count 33 posts (including spam) in the past year.  For Seton Hall's sake, I hope they have a different board that's more active.

There is a Marquette fan site that runs a poll mocking opposing players names. It claims to be a "vote for the coolest names" but what it really is is a bunch of unsophisticated yokels mocking foreign and ethnic names. They have a poll at which these morons vote for one of several nominees. Then these idiots pile on with "witty" comments. It is really disgusting as what they are really doing is making veiled racist comments. The site isn't one of the reputable national ones. These guys seem to number a few dozen rabid Marquette supporters who take great efforts to mock opponents. They also post photos of an opponent's alumni and take great pleasure in mocking the caliber of that alumni community. They did this for GU and every team they have played this year. Are these the sorts we want to be with in the new conference?

I haven't seen anything racist in the coolest name poll.  Actually I think it kind of "celebrates diversity" in taking a look at different names.  I've learned that Onochie means, roughly, Junior.  Something I never would have looked up about a culture had it not been for Ochie's dominance.  (Nigeria's Ibo tribe)

The name of the poster is "Kingston Hoya".  It's a Georgetown fan that's posted the same thing on the scout boards for Seton Hall, Louisville, Villanova, South Florida, St. Johns, Syracuse, etc.  He even put the same thing on the Wisconsin board to try to rile something up.  They're smart enough to realize this guy is a troll and are ignoring him.  We should too.

I believe that is the sound of crickets I hear.  There are many reasons to dislike Marquette basketball.  This is not one of them.

Last year I was checking out something on the Kansas site and they had a post about the Wisconsin basketball team. They put up pictures of all the white players on the team and were saying that Wisconsin was the ugliest team in basketball. I have to admit the pictures were not very flattering and the comments were a little funny. There is a perception that Wisconsin is all white but they did also show some respect to the quality of the Badgers. Instead of flaming on them I took it for what it was that they were just having a little fun. A bunch of tall young white guys lined up together is not a pretty site.         People just need to get over themselves and worry about real issues.
