I'll also think back to DJO's non-con season Junior year.  Not too good.  C'mon Jamil, WE NEED YOU, NOW.

Would you pay this dude to play basketball for your team?
No. My point was he possesses the God-given physique and athleticism that is rare and consistent with an NBA player. I was not saying he was an NBA Basketball player.

I think Jamil is going to be ok. Here's my hypothesis of what's going on. Last year, he was kept in check with senior leadership and was a cog in the machine. He seemed to be focused, serious and mostly silent. This year, he seems gregarious, loose, almost jovial at times -- even in the wake of turnovers, bad plays and general lapses. Just seems to be a lack of focus in general. This attitude, combined with the perceived lack of competition from many early season cupcakes, has him struggling to be consistent at all. Sometimes guys can just "turn in back on" once the real bell rings. I'm hoping that is the case.

I tend to agree with your point about Jamil will play better when he plays against better talent.  I think this may be true in general for this team.  They play to the level of the competition.  Hopefully, the team will play better in the BE.  We have the talent.  Buzz and the coaches need to get the most out of Jamil.

The Florida game seems to disprove this point.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

You mean the "cupcakes" that we can't put away until the last minutes of a game? Those "cupcakes"?

Kinda like this theory.  Was more in the background, less pressure when doing his thing.  Leadership is somewhat devoid this year and the older dudes were there to pump him up last year.

Don't forget the goose egg he put up against Butler.

This line of thinking that this team is going to play better when the competition gets better has absolutely no basis in any evidence provided so far this year.  Same with Jamil.

Jamil had 0 against Butler and 3 against Florida (with 5 turnovers).

Now MU might be better because Todd is back but not because some magic switch is flipped when they play better teams.

Besides Florida, they have played to their competition in every single game. How is that not playing better when they play better competition? Seems like a pretty substantial basis.

Florida is the only ranked team they have played.  Butler is the only other one with an RPI in the top 20.  (And I have said that is probably our best game of the year all things considered.) Outside of that they have played a bunch of mediocre teams.

tOSU woulda mopped the deck with this team.

Yep.  In retrospect, not playing that game was probably a good thing.
