Mac repeated what Buzz said ... they do not think it is the knee and he will have it checked out in Hawaii today (four hours behind CT) or tomorrow before they head home.

KenoshaWarrior

That hospital better stay open for Vander Blue

Hunt:

Said MU coach Buzz Williams, "One doctor here said he didn't tear his ACL, just sprained it. But that's not been confirmed. We'll try to figure that out over the next 24 hours."

"He'll be fine," MU point guard Junior Cadougan said.

"He's icing it," forward Jamil Wilson said. "He says he'll be OK."

Good sign that he was walking around and never went to the locker room. Guess he might sit against UMBC and be back for Florida, or UW at the latest.
Gardner even came back and played against Villanova, so walking around means very little.

He just tweeted.
Says thanks for the prayers and well wishes.  Said he will be fine.  Looks to see yall on monday at BC

The team must be staying at a Holiday Inn. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

CBS's Goodman tweeting that Vander has a knee sprain and is day to day.

But when you think about it, who isn't?

That fall/slip looked horrific.  Thoughts and prayers to Vander Blue for a speedy recovery.  Just based on how that looked, if Vander plays again this year...I'd be thrilled.  Looked awful.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

Ners - will you please knock it off with the negative waves?

All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Knee sprain means a slight tear I believe...

Sprains happen to muscles.  Strains happen to ligaments.  The human ACL is a ligament.  Vander Blue is super human.

Discuss.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

GoldenZebra

If anything can be gained from this injury, its that Scoop will blow it out of proportion and Vander will be fine. That is all.

I'm good with that scenario.   ;)

Actually, sprains happen to ligaments and strains happen to muscles/tendons.

Whatever. Vander sucks anyway.
"Half a billion we used to do about every two months...or as my old boss would say, 'you're on the hook for $8 million a day come hell or high water-.    Never missed in 6 years." - Chico apropos of nothing

My "source" tells me Vander walked off the bus limping in noticeable pain. Not teal.

Proceed to jump to conclusions.

BME to MD

The mechanism of injury to me looked like MCL.

What, if anything, might one conclude from that?

That would mean much better than an ACL injury. Thats about it though.

BME to MD

The immediate and long-term prognosis of an isolated MCL injury is much better than an ACL.  However, MCL injuries have a tendency to be associated with ACL and meniscus injuries.

The statement by Buzz that the initial doc eval didn't think it was the ACL is reassuring.  Unfortunately the physical exam is much better at ruling in an ACL injury than ruling it out.

AZWarrior

So until an MRI is done, no one will know for sure, right?

Not that I want to ignite speculation but when I tore my ACL and meniscus both my wife, who is a PT, and my ortho doc thought I had at worst an meniscus tear.  MRI showed I completely vaporized my ACL.  I even went golfing the day of the MRI without too much discomfort.

Generally I agree though that it looked much more like an MCL then ACL injury
