Another solid, experienced coach on the bench can never hurt. Great hire.

Jerry could coach - just not recruit worth a damn....as Dir of BB Ops he doesn't have to do any recruiting...good pick up.

So what exactly are the responsibilities of Director of Basketball Operations?

Holy crap. Wouldn't have thought this for the hire at DOBO. DePaul fans will have fun on this one.

At most schools, this job goes to a young former player in his early stages of coaching. It usually involves breaking down film, setting up film exchanges, some travel planning, lots of go-fer activities, etc.

Very strange to hire an older former head coach, but he needed a job and Buzz no doubt likes him. So welcome to MU, Droopy Dog!

So Scoop sources at In 'n Out are actually accurate?  What ya know?  ;)

btw, out here in the Central Valley and heard the guy in front of me at the In & Out drive through order the "Jerry Wainwright to MU Special"

Great addition for Buzz. Very experienced head coach, knows Chicago via Dixie Versace and even ties back to Al, actually not a bad recruiter but DU couldn't keep the kids in class or in school. Has cancer and this puts him closer to his home and off the road. Was an Al admirer.

Well, at least we're covered if/when Buzz leaves.

Oh boy!  Don't think he can do the shuffle or the 2 step.

Although a bit younger, Bart Lundy was a very good hire coming off a job loss.  Like this one as well.

Solid basketball veteran.  Was he still head coach at DePaul that horrible night when they beat us down there a couple of years back?  Anyway, happy to have Jerry as part of the staff.  It's a great way to finish a long career.

Jerry Wainwright breaking down film is a real luxury.  Buzz should be getting great help on learning how to attack other teams defensively.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

As Director of Basketball Ops this is a solid hire.  Impressed with how well Buzz has re-tooled his staff after the departures.

He'd already been fired.  An interim coach beat us.  It was that pathetic.

hdog1017

I feel that Jerry can direct the operations of basketball quite nicely.

To get that much knowledge and experience for Head of Basketball Ops is remarkable. Buzz also hired a video co-ordinator, a young man who was his student assistant at New Orleans. Guess all the sons of the coaches at the top AAU programs in the country were taken.

Don't see how that was harsh.

Wainwright DOES look like Droopy Dog from the old cartoons!

I actually met him (Wainwright, not Droopy) on several occasions and he seemed like a real good guy.

One could say that Wainwright is already responsible quite a few Marquette victories.  ;D
Have some patience, FFS.

GGGG

Good thing the DOBO doesn't recruit, because that is one thing he couldn't do.
