Does the new AD deserve any credit for getting this rolling?
Of course not.  But he'll get all the blame if it doesn't happen.

...or even better the left side of the court.....

Clever political jab!

I'd really love this to happen. Great press for the University and another great game to start the season. Should the conference realignments ruin basketball forever, I want to stock up on as many great memories as I can.

I was thinking this too.  tOSU with gray camos and we can rock the navy/valour blue camos.  It would look pretty sweet.

Something along these lines:

Blue v. Gray, like the Civil War, which started in Charleston.

Thought the Civil War had its origin on this site.

Most wars on Scoop are decidedly uncivil.

I like it, but I expect it will probably be in digital urban bdu as branches not named the air force have adopted that.  Interestingly enough, Marquette's color scheme  could make it pretty similar to the NDU and replace the dark grey with the gold and light grey with powder.

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Well, that sure is a hell of a start.  Was thinking the "gold" checkers and trim could be changed to actual gold, like the naval unis.

I know last year there were no tickets sold to the public for the MSU-UNC game, and that people who DID receive tickets were not allowed to scalp them. I assume this will be a very tough ticket to obtain.

Wouldn't you need to be cleared by the CIA/DoD/etc. to go on board a commissioned vessel?  Granted, it's probably not hard to obtain "guest/visitor" clearance, but the Navy is probably going to want to have a list of attendees in advance just so they don't see Hakmed and a bunch of Chechnyan rebels showing up.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Unless they promoted Mike Broeker to AD without telling anyone, no. Cottingham didn't handle any of the scheduling, don't see why that would change.

Yes, last year each ticket had the person's name on it, and you had to show proper identification to get on the boat/into the game.

I can get on board with something like this:

That's almost it!  The numbers should be gold like on the navy jerseys.  Also (to nitpick), this is the old Converse design.  The current Jordan design is a bit different.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

MU to face Ohio State on the deck of the USS Yorktown

With only a final contract to be signed, Marquette's men's basketball team is expected to play Ohio State University on the USS Yorktown, a decommissioned World War II aircraft carrier now moored in the harbor at Charleston, S.C., on Nov. 9, the event's organizer said Friday.

We should play in long tan cargo pants with boots. No shirts. Like the Top Gun volleyball game. Chicos has relatives who'd tune in to see it.

Too bad this didn't happen last year - Imagine the promo:

Buzz:  "D - 1!  J - 32!"

Thad Matta: "You sunk my battleship!"
Have some patience, FFS.

a huge coup!
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

When was the last time Marquette had a non-conference game of this magnitude scheduled? A perennial top-25 team in what will likely be the most-watched game of the first week of the season? I'm not talking about tournaments, like Duke in Maui, but when we knew 100% we'd be playing a team like this. Absolutely HUGE get for Marquette. I cannot praise the guys behind the scheduling enough for this one.

Boats go underwater.  Ships carry airplanes (and basketball courts).

(Just in case you run into any sailors in Charleston)
