I guess it wouldn't be cool if it transformed during the game. Or would it? I dunno!

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

What if we're rained out?  That would be an NCAABB first, right?

They'll just move it downstairs to the hangar if it rains.

Please, please let this happen. As an Ohio native, I would like nothing more than to shove a Marquette victory in the face of every Tressel Meyer-loving, Pryor-defending, Maurice Clarett jersey-wearing, pretentious Suckeye fan that I can find.

As a Michigan native and MU alum that despises of all things Ohio, I love this! Beat OSU then force those cheating, lying, scummy buckeyes to walk the plank. And then sink the OSU party boat docked next door. Nobody would save them cuz everyone hates them anyway.

Side note: if anyone drives to the game through Ohio, do not speed. Biggest a holes to outta-staters ever.

If it is not top secret , who's the alum?  And THANK YOU for your service!!!

Brian Luther, class of '84.  Perhaps with a few of us contacting our elected officials, maybe we can persuade the pentagon to give the admiral adequate shore leave to make the game!  After all, he is a Warrior in the most literal sense.

You answered your question and not that you asked but the alum that is most senior in the Navy now commands the US Third Fleet. Vice Admiral Beaman, class of '74.

Does scheduling this game signal that MU is making a big time commitment to athletics?

Maybe Larry and Pilarz aare thinking BIG. I like it!

Let the rampant speculation continue!

Got my tickets lined up won't be official till July 15th.

Honestly, they had very little to do with this.  This is Broeker's area.

I was able to google it.

Did you ever get to serve under Admiral Balmert during your service?

On this Memorial weekend, a HUGE thanks to all of our Warrior alum who have served.

Make sure you get a good spot. Wouldn't want the TV cameras to have to find you.

I spent some time in Michigan that I consider that home. Funny though, Detroit is almost as violent.

No, I never had the honor. I've heard of him. I believe he was a Surface Warfare Officer and I flew so our paths were a little less likely to cross.

I hear Navy pilots can fly circles around Air Force pilots. Any truth to this? ;)

That's the Air Force Academy campus.

Go Navy.

I had the honor of serving under radome, and I now work on Wounded Warriors of all branches of the military, from 19 year-old Marines that lost limbs in Afghanistan, to 94 year-old retired Generals at the National Military Medical Center at Bethesda.

That being said, this would be AWESOME for our basketball program!  Other than in this post and wherever I can score a military discount, I don't usually tout my active duty status, but if it helps me get a ticket for this Veterans' Day game, hook me up!

Good points. Lemme try again.

Is there anyway you can get the American flag on the sides of ther jersey??  That'd be the most American jersey out there.

When I was a sophomore, we played a very high ranked, Mike Gminski led Duke team in Madison on national TV -- back in the pre-ESPN days when only one game per week was on national TV. It was in Madison because there was some kind of scheduling conflict at MECCA. We took a big lead, blew it and then came through at the end to win. It was the first game Al broadcast involving Marquette, too. It was a very big deal.

Bucks had precedence at the MECCA and were scheduled for a National TV Game as well.  I believe against the 76ers.  The Bucks wanted to move their game to the evening, but the network (ABC, I believe) would not let them.  Thus, MU moved to  Madison for the day and I spent my one and only time at the Gobbler.

Duke was a tournament. We didn't know when we signed it we'd be playing them. Could have just as easily been K-State or Gonzaga. Not the same. And Washington, while a nice team, is not Ohio State. My guess is more people will watch this game than watched us play Duke and Washington combined. Last year's Carrier Classic was ESPN's most watched CBB game in over 5 years, drawing in nearly 4 million viewers.

Just because Vitale is broadcasting a game doesn't make it a massive game. He probably does 3-6 games per week, more during Feast Week and the Conference Championships.

This has a good chance to be the single most-watched non-conference game of the year. That is usually where you find teams like North Carolina, Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, Syracuse...this is a massive step for the program. Let's not underestimate the meaning of this game. We wouldn't be in this position if we weren't considered one of the top-20 or so programs (not teams, programs) in the country.

Excellent points, brew. I wasn't even saying the MU-Duke game at Madison was "bigger," just that it was a big regular-season non-conference game, also.

Totally agree about the "cool factor" of this game. Really looking forward to it.

It looks like it was originally suppose to be UConn in thegame but they pulled out:

Even though they pulled out early, it will still be a ship full of seamen.
