Clam Crowder

Has anyone seen how much crap this guy is taking on twitter? My personal favorite:

"Mayor Barrett took a dump this morning" #donwalkerheadline  @DonWalkerJS

I emailed him, and he didn't deny that he changed the article 20 minutes later after the initial rush of attacks on it. The second article saying that a 22 year old was in a bar, well that is just hysterical to me.

Amazing that the JS puts out stories and then edits them after they've already been published. They're a glorified blog at this point. In yesteryear you would issue a correction or retraction, which could easily be done by adding something to the bottom of the story.

I think it is pretty clear after the past couple days of pseudo-reporting and faux controversy, that the man is a complete f***ing joke.

For the record, Walker's boss(not sure who he is) is a known MU hater. Coincidence?? I think not!

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

"blogs" are just an excuse for poor journalism.

The JS is the biggest piece of garbage out there.

MattyWarrior

Their are to many positives going on in the Marquette program to let a tiny paper interfere.

Did we really need a 5th thread on this topic?

dwaderoy2004

Man, you guys have some thin skin.  The article had nothing but facts in it.  If you don't want to read about our players getting ticketed for being underage in a bar, then blame the players.  I truly don't care that they were underage in a bar, so I really don't care that it was reported.

Instead of asking, can't you just nuke this thread with a simple delete button?

mugoose

I don't care that they were in the bar AT ALL. I care about the timing of "the story" being released.

MARQKC

Article quotes bar manager saying the club, open only Friday and Saturday, closed early on police orders, but the "presence" tickets were issued for an infraction on Sunday. Shouldn't the reporter have included the time the club closed? This article would've gotten a D-minus from my MU J-school reporting professors.

Yes, so let's keep perpetuating it with endless threads.

madtownwarrior

Do you really need this spelled out - bar open on Sat, closing time is Sunday AM.   Incidents likely took place after 12:00AM Sun...

You don't know who he is but he's a "known MU hater"? It just sounds like some are looking for anything to complain about.

The tickets were issued March 12 and the story a week later. I don't see anything wrong with the timing.

Walker is a Marquette graduate.  Doing his job.  Non story but the only reason it was brought up is due to the off the court issues the team has had the last 12 months.  It's what the media does.  Stories have legs and then die but can re-grow legs when the individuals, companies, or entities involved stumble (however minor) within a time period somewhat relevant.

MU has to remain clean for a few years is the probable situation.  Otherwise every little incident like this will hit the media in some way.  It is what they do.

I've been trying to figure out why the Marquette beat writer, Tom Enlund, hasn't opined? Why did this fall in Walker's lap? More evidence of Enlund's weak offerings or does the sports business reporter have better ties to the University than the actual University beat writer?

Wouldn't the Marquette beat writer want someone else to write this garbage article?

I can't see where him writing this piece would win him any points with Buzz, MU, etc.

+1  Enlund would never get another interview with Buzz or a player if he was the one pushing this story.  He can claim not to be involved if Walker is the one doing all the dirty reporting.

according to one tool (Bill Micheals), the other tool (Don Walker) used a lawyer to make sure the open records request happened...

That's a given. But at the same time it's not like Enlund has really gained any points this season. He doesn't do anything in depth. He rarely writes any recruiting articles. He doesn't go above and beyond the normal game-based reporting so you figure a publication that recently hasn't been concerned about its relationship with the MU program wouldn't care who "breaks" the story.

The AD should conveniently "misplace" don walker's season ticket renewal invoice for next year then.

I could care less that they were in the bar - we've all done it.

But.... the messenger is not the problem. It's always easy to fall back to the easiest cop out.

If anyone paid attention, we know why it came out now and why it was walker.
