according to one tool (Bill Micheals), the other tool (Don Walker) used a lawyer to make sure the open records request happened...

Bill Michaels is still in Milwaukee?  How have I survived not knowing this?

Sour grapes anyone...

true nonetheless, well time joke, even if political. i'm guessing the walker at issue in this thread DID graduate from the fine journalism college at Marquette, but maybe missed a class or two.

A self loathing Walker. He's a hater who hates....himself!

An amazing amount of blaming the messenger here.

An incident happened, a few have happened.  Some media members did their job and reported it.

Now let's win a sweet 16 game.

I think most people are questioning why this is coming up now, whether the story is news worthy, and if it should have been reported at all.  A lot of stuff happens every day and the JS chooses what it reports.  Why this, why now, and why double down on it with multiple follow-up blog postings that don't really add anything to the story except to continue to bring attention to it?

douchebags all the way around in my book...

Oh yes....God forbid that a newspaper guy files an open records request.  I'm sure that has never happened before.

I can't address the volume of reporting other than saying "slow news days".

However, I can address the fact that it WAS reported. It's TOPICAL. MU had some "off the court issues" last season. They were reported, MU took action, and for the most part, that story has gone away.

Now a story comes out that the current players broke the law and received a ticket. It's a small law. It's not a huge deal. But, given MU's recent history, it's a story.

If they win, the story will eventually die.

The issue I have with it is two fold.  The timing and the rush to get it out.  Walker did not contact MU one time for comment before running the story.  Then he continually kept updating the article as he learned the facts.  If he did it the right way, it would not have been a big deal.  He did not.
