Clothing/Drinking dilemma
« on: March 16, 2012, 08:14:04 AM »
So, are you going to wear green tomorrow, or MU paraphernalia?    Are you going to drink like rock-stars all day, or are you going to find a MU watching site and just drink there?    Stupid second (third) round games on St. Patrick's day.

wait, you don't have St.Pat's-themed MU gear??  (I almost wrote "Irish"-themed, but that just sounds wrong).

j/k, I do but it's a giant sweatshirt.  MU stuff @ the game, probably will layer over St. Pat's gear and transform after the game :)

I may only be 28, but I cannot drink like I could when my drinking schedule was pestered by attending classes, so I will be sitting on a friends couch enjoying beers at a casual pace all day while waiting for the MU game to start.

Oh year, wearing my classic Marquette, shamrock long sleeves.

MU Rah Rah.

Out for lunch/drinking with the kids in the afternoon. Back home for the game, corned beef, beer with some friends, then adults only back out for a while.

Clothing...some sort of combination. I am not a big team colors wearer anyway.

MU gear at the St. Patty's day parade in St. Paul.  As far as drinking goes, requisitioned some Jameson last night.  The neighborhood Irish pub opens for breakfast tomorrow!!!!  Might also need to stop in at Alary's tomorrow too.  St. Paul Warrior, do you plan to hit DT St. Paul tomorrow?

I always wear Marquette gear on Marquette gameday. It trumps everything. All the Irish I need will be in my pint glass.

Blue and gold make green, and go well with beer.  I don't see your problem.

I'm German.  We don't need a special day to drink beer.

I will be rockin' the gold shirt.

Notre Dame doesn't have a unique claim to shamrocks or leprechauns. The Irish do. I'll bet there are more kids of Irish descent at MQ than ND.

For those you who were not around, Al McGuire's break-out year was 1966-67. It was the year the then  (and now) Warriors, who were expected to crash and burn in the first round, made it to the NIT finals in the "old" Garden. (Actually, it was the second Garden, there having been one before, which, rumour has it, burned down.)

Anyway, the Warriors unexpectedly made it to the finals, with Al being the toast of Queens, if not all five boroughs. The game, which the Warriors lost, after having a commanding half-team lead, was played on a Saturday afternoon, St. Patrick's Day, after the parade, and about eight hours after the bars opened to serve green beer.

Need I provide any additional details ... ?!

I really regret letting my wife convince me to throw away my green Murphy's Irish Pub "Marquette: It's time to drink green beer" Miller Lite t-shirt from 2000.  Saturday is setting up pretty well for 18 holes in the morning, MU game in the afternoon, puking by midnight.

And Notre Dame does not own the color green or all things Irish.  Michigan State can claim green 10 times over Notre Dame.

I played 18 on Thursday.   I tried to convince my wife that it was crucial to MU's success that I play another 18 on Saturday.    Fail.

I think we are all curious as to what Warriorchick looks like.  I had something along the lines of Pocahontas in mind until she said she was German.  So I guess more like Heidi Klum?

I've still got mine. Only wear it once a year so it's in good shape.

As for today, tighty whiteys and a 30 pack of keystone light.
