While we're suggesting changes, I'm also for incorporating the fox into our team name using its latin or french name rather than the Marquette Fox or Marquette Golden Fox, since gold is our deal.   Surprised nobody uses the fox for a team name/mascot.

Interesting idea -- only competing then with the Marist College Red Foxes.  Unfortunately, this is not their mascot.

I hate Mizzou for insisting on being dyslexic. They belong in the Big 10.

We should change our logo because stupid people think MU stands for the University of Michigan?  Even though no media entity or local colloquialism has referred to Michigan as MU... EVER!

Why not change our colors too for that matter?

I cannot tell you how many people in Denver have come up to me and been like, "Yeah, Michigan!" after seeing an article of clothing I'm wearing saying "Marquette."

It's baffling to me how many people here know of this tiny town on the Upper Peninsula but have no idea where Marquette University is.

It's also infuriating.

Agreed.  What's even worse...

A co-worker of mine's son goes to school at Northern Michigan University, which is in Marquette, MI.  And where does she tell everyone that her son goes to school?

"Ronnie just home from Marquette for winter break.  Ronnie's up at Marquette for the semester.  Ronnie and Marquette bla bla bla."

I've corrected her I don't know how many times but she still says it.

Surprised so many are signing on for "MQ" .. We are MU.  All the other MUs can suck it.

Agreed... We aren't Mar Quette University.

Oh yeah, we do!

I remember when I told my sister (a Miami of Ohio grad) where I was going to college and her only response was, "So you're the school that owns mu.edu."  So clearly there's a demand out there.

Actually, along I-55 and I-57 on the road down to the FF in 2003 several people recognized us as "Mar-kwet" (my best phonetic interpretation).   I didn't think my explanation on the subtlties of the "QU" would really matter.  So I went with "yeah, that too."   Sew up that "alternate jersey" for marketing in Cairo, IL, New Madrid, MO, Greenwood, MS and whever that Cracker Barrel was.

Wow.

That's absolutely ridiculous. And that's actually the school everyone out here thinks I'm sporting gear for. I didn't even know there was a school there until I moved here in 2010 and I lived in WI my entire life before that. How the hell do people in Colorado know about Marquette, MI and how do SO MANY of them know about it??

My first year in MKE I went home (New England) for Xmas, and my sister asked
"How is everything in ....Minnesota?" Sort of reminds you of that old New Yorker cartoon.

If we're going to change anything, let's start with getting back to Warriors!

Lots of UP transplants in Colorado, especially after KI Sawyer Air force Base got shut down.

Marquette.Mich is usually one of the coldest places in the U.S.  That registers with them.
Imagine someone enrolling at Marquette U and finding out that instead of Northern Michigan he will be studying in relatively balmy Milwaukee!  Friends who went there tell me that snow is still on the ground in June.

Could have sworn MU/MQ was the coldest place on earth when I went there. Lol.

Female foxes are called vixens, so Golden Vixens.  Would help or hurt recruiting for women's sports?

My dad still jokes that he went to MIT.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
