I know that when Marquette decided to use the new MU logo exclusively instead of the GE that a request was made to news outlets to use the new logo. I believe the sports info director made this request.

I think we should ask for our two letter identifier on the ticker be MQ (representing first two letters of each syllable) instead of MU. MU is not unique and Mizzou is another elite team that uses it. Thoughts?

I like it.  MarQuette.  W could emphasize the Q on the uniforms, too.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Blackhat

Like it.

While we're suggesting changes, I'm also for incorporating the fox into our team name using its latin or french name rather than the Marquette Fox or Marquette Golden Fox, since gold is our deal.   Surprised nobody uses the fox for a team name/mascot.

MUMac

Yeah, I hate it when MU get's confused with our dyslexic compadres at Missouri University.  Keep the MU so we can show them who the REAL MU is.   Besides, I do not like the way MQMac looks!

PuertoRicanNightmare

That's a really good idea. If they ever re do the MU thing, they should consider that

Couldn't agree more . when I wear my two letter gear, people think it is Michigan

MQ Golden Chickens

Make it so.

MQ Golden Chickens
Today appearing at the KFC Yum Center!  Maybe not.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Benny B

Who uses a two-letter ticker anymore?  CBS & ESPN both use "MARQ."

Plus, I'm not willing to ditch the MU moniker just because Mizzou uses it.  That's a dumb reason to do anything.

Besides, Marquette owns the MU.edu domain, so take that Mizzou.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

With a slight alteration to the nickname, MU should be able to afford to startup a Division I football program.

The Marquette Golden Arches!

You want the women's teams called the "Golden Foxes"?

Female foxes are called vixens, so Golden Vixens.  Would help or hurt recruiting for women's sports?

We should change our logo because stupid people think MU stands for the University of Michigan?  Even though no media entity or local colloquialism has referred to Michigan as MU... EVER!

Why not change our colors too for that matter?

mu_hilltopper

Surprised so many are signing on for "MQ" .. We are MU.  All the other MUs can suck it.

Would help attendance.

Despite creating the MQ logo, I'm with you.  The other MU's can change!

I live in Columbus...and this does happen all the time with trigger happy buckeye fans...though it is important to remember Michigan is actually U of M and not MU!  I am not for MQ...stick with the good old MU...mostly because really like the logo.

Blackhat

I would guess the majority of the nation is in that "stupid people" column if they see an "MU".  I would rather go for unique branding.

MarsupialMadness

I think we should switch it to MTTE.

If we're MQ, people might get it confused with Macquarie University, Australia.

This.  Though MU has to funnel some cash to Google.  If you search for "MU", Mizzou is first, the real MU is first...on page two.

Tell them "It is University of Michigan...not Michigan University...(you idiot)"

The "average fan" is an idiot.
