Gotta love forums..."higher ups" "reliable sources"....

No sh*t. This is ridiculous. My favorite was the post regarding his brother being in the nba which in turn makes mayo need to get his.  This thread makes the full-on double rainbow guy seem rational.

I was like walking to class today and Juan Anderson was walking alone. From this I can say firmly he is not connecting well with his fellow teammates.

DCWarriors04

Let's all back off the ledge; Mayo is a freshman and I'm sure all freshman ponder where they are at sometime during their first year. He is a key cog in this team that is well motivated. I have faith in Buzz and the rest of the coaches to handle this.

Got it. The guy who started this thread was wondering if something was wrong with Mayo. I thought it was an interesting observation a few days ago.  Then I had a conversation this morning with someone with ties directly to the staff/ath dept who brought this issue up unprovoked. It bummed me out. I love Mayo's game. I thought I would share the observations and what he is hearing. This isn't some brother's sister-in-law's plumber said, this is a guy who speaks with Buzz and the AD frequently. There's obviously more to the story, but since I'm as rational as the double rainbow guy, I'll just keep it to myself.

Don't worry about it Freeport. Those who bitch about sources are just pissed because they don't have any.

Sultan, I could care less. College basketball isn't that important to me.

If you read the post I was commenting on his observation about his brother being in the nba so it makes him a stat guy. Comical. If he's unhappy I can guarantee its not because his brother is in the NBA. I'm a fan of mayo, but if he's not happy then see ya.

Wow, I'm honestly shocked if this is true.  The guy is getting starters' minutes in conference play and has scored in double digits 5 of the 8 games with a fair share of shots.  Not to mention we're winning of late.  If true, I really hope this is just a bump in the road, because to the naked eye it seems like he's getting MORE comfortable with the system, not less.

Blackhat

this program would be set back big time next year if mayo mia'd.  he's the future.

DCWarriors04

More is being made of this then needs to be made. Nobody knows what exactly is going on. Maybe the issue is he feels he should be doing more and isn't. Maybe he misses home. Maybe school is tougher than he expected. Who knows.

Finally, a thread that doesn't end up ripping Vander.

Is Mayo tonight's whipping boy? Does any one have.......facts?   ;D

Don't speak too soon, Erick can still show up and say 'I'd be pissed if the garbage player like Vander started over me.'

Not what I meant. TMayo sees himself as an NBA guy -- that's his goal -- unlike most, he has seen it up close -- he wants it. When he has a bad stat line, bad shooting night, it really affects him -- even when the team wins. That's not good for the team in the long run. Staff sees it; they are working on it. That's pretty much it. Nothing was said about transferring.

Maybe he reads the board and is upset he's only been SOTG twice.

Thanks for explaining, Warrior. This makes sense. I'm glad the staff and Todd are addressing it.

Not that it makes a ton of difference, but doesn't Todd turn 21 in a month or two?

to me this does make a ton of difference...it would be hard for him to transfer and sit out a year.  he may unwisely or wisely leave early at some point...but i don't see him sitting out for a year.

At the very end of the USF game, Mayo had the ball and a USF guy came up and basically just took it and ran off. Mayo waved it off, like whatever, and started walking off the court. The USF guy ultimately ended up on the free throw line. Granted, this was with about 10 seconds in the game and it'd been over for quite awhile, but I can't imagine Buzz won't rip him a new one over that once he sees the tape. On Tuesday night I just thought, woah, that's weird. Hate to say after reading this thread I do wonder if there is something going on here. Considering how well known it is that Buzz's team is only ever made of guys who work the hardest they ever have in their lives to earn anything they get, if there is a diva attitude of some sort, Mayo better get that in check fast. It'd be unfortunate to lose him but a diva attitude won't fly on this team, and frankly, I'd hate to see that change.

But, to other posters' points...he's a young freshman. Hoping it's just a bump in the road and it gets worked out. Mayo is already a stud and will be THE stud for us for the next 3.5 seasons so I hope he sticks it out.

He's probably the oldest freshman we've ever had.

I didn't  bother to read any of this so it would be great if someone would catch me up.  Is this another "MU player doesn't Hi-V enough" thread?

Would you mind letting me know who your source was through direct message? I obviously won't do anything with it, but am interested to see who is saying this since I have heard none of it. Not a big deal, just intrigued.

I really doubt Buzz had a problem with it.  It was a dick move by the USF guy since MU was just running out the clock.

madtownwarrior

That was a dick move by the USF guy - did not realize it was Mayo we took the ball from/

I love the use of "I could care less" by people

- does anyone ever use this in the right context?     This actually means you could have a care level less than your current care level.

- The correct usage is "I could NOT care less"      This actually means your are the lowest point of potentially caring about something.

How was it a dick move by USF? Mayo is just standing there, the guy just walks up and takes the ball, he didn't have to work too hard to get it. He's still playing and now he gets a steal on his stat line.

Because MU was running out the clock...not trying to score when up 20.  That's why I'm glad they fouled him and made him earn the points.

dwaderoy2004

absolutely a dick move.  we weren't trying to score anymore.  as you stated, Mayo was just standing there, attempting to run out the clock so as not to embarrass USF any further.  If mayo was making any move whatsoever towards the basket, it would be understandable.  And as you said, at that point, the guy is just trying to selfishly pad his stats.  One of the dickier moves I have seen actually.
