Clam Crowder

Anyone see what happened after he made that three that warranted the tech??

spartan3186

He did a throat slashing movement twice after hitting his three. Once around mid-court that wasn't seen, and once right in front of the Louisville bench, which got the T.

Benford was super pissed and was having at Jae in the TO.

PVMagic

Throat slash.  Not classy.

UL boards calling us a team of thugs, saying Buzz "must be rubbing off on us" (umm, okay).  Also claim there wasn't any trash talking going on but I thought things were getting a little chippy once or twice at the end there (seem to remember an incident involving Cadougan, back me up?).

muwarrior97

he was a beast today but lost his head on that play, bad momen for him....... I'm sure coaches will talk to him about it and Buzz seemed to be for a bit at end

Clam Crowder

I was assuming he just did the three goggles, but that's a little worse. I don't like when he shows off sometimes after he makes a big shot. Darius hasn't done that much at all this year.

MUFC9295

Jae was caught being a kid, wound up and wanting to make a statement.   Sometimes is called being fired up.  This time it was just a bit over the line.  He didn't. Say "you're dead" or anything outlandish.  Just "it's over".  Benford gave it to home and KFC got the T.  Let that be the end of that.

MU B2002

Heat of the moment thing, didn't think it was that big of a deal. He didn't take a swing at anybody, won't get suspended over it, will get his butt chewed and probably do some running over it.  Issue resolved.  About as big of an issue as DJO's tech last year.  And some of my favorite bball memories from 98-01 include the Cordell Henry throat slash.  (Towards Cincinatti I believe.)

Agreed, not becoming at all, but if you mean "UL board calling us a team thugs", a thread buried on the third page of their Scout page, with 2 replys, then yeah, we are a team of thugs.

It was a throat slash -  in fact it was two of them. I'm sure he was psyched at having driven in the final nail in the coffin, but he should have restrained himself.
As the announcers said, just point to the scoreboard. Let's hope they talk some to Jae, who really had a great game. Hell, he did more athletically today than I've done in my whole life (save for beating a kid 2 years older in the 25-yd. dash at summer camp), but stuff like that is technical-worthy.

WarriorHal

Maybe he was thinking about the game against Louisville last season...I know I haven't forgotten it...and went a bit too far in sending a message.

tower912

He was psyched, he was dumb, he deserved the T and hopefully he learns from it.  Next.

Was mentioned a few times on rivals... I don't think it was indicative of Jae's character though.

But Im sure if this was an opposing player making this gesture to us, you be saying the same thing

Mostly all hugs between Jae and the Louisville team after the game.

Yeah, he looked like he understood on the bench that he was going over immediately over to Lville players and coaches to apologize.  His aggressiveness is unbelievably valuable to us in the kind of rebounds, steals and drwn chargest that had the announcers singing his praises until that point, but it seems to go hand-in-hand with a little temper that teams may use to bait him at times.  This wasn't like he undercut anyone or anything though - I was much more upset about him doing an about face to push a player in front of a ref in the 1-point loss to Vandy last year.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Just reviewed the tape of the game, Crowder did not get the T for his throat cut gestures.  He actually went over to Louisville bench, after Petino called a time out, and starting talking smack with the bench.  Certainly, not the right thing to do.

I remember mayo and siva seemed to be getting into it a bit after Todd got creamed going for a loose ball rebound with no foul call and louisville eventually got the board. Mayo then got up in a louisville player's face in an on-ball situation and looked like he would draw a foul that thankfully never occurred. Rest of the possession was pretty frantic, but next time down on the defensive end was when Mayo drew the offensive foul when he went sliding on his butt near the FT line.

He definitely got it for the throat slash. When the ref called the T he indicated the throat slash to the book keeper.

Small point, but crowder made those two gestures and the game kept going.  Then Petino called time out, Crowder walked towards Luoisville bench, kept talking smack, and the ref walked over and T'd up Crowder.  Watch the tape of the game.  I understand the mistake because the 2 idiots announcing the game made a point of showing Crowder making the throat cutting gestures and saying "it's over"

Jae should be better than that throat-slash crap. Pure bush league. If an opponent did that to us, this board would be all over him. Jae took a couple ill-advised shots and had a couple silly turnovers, too. Having said all that ...

He was incredible today.

Hard to argue with Gardner as SoG, but Jae had one of his best 30-minute stretches as a Golden Warrior. He was everywhere, especially on D and on the boards. If he plays like that every game, we will win LOTS of games. Until the slash, he showed a lot of leadership, too.

Very encouraged, as long as it's the start of a great last two months (2-months PLUS, I hope!) of his MU career.

I love Jae, he seems to (almost) always be focused and just want to win, regardless of whether that means he gets 20 points and 1 board or 1 point and 20 boards he'll do what the team needs.  I do think he is someone who has gotten caught up in the heat of the moment more than I would like.  I know for sure he got a T against UNC when we seemed to be kind of chipping away in the Sweet 16 last year for talking trash after hitting a 3.  He got a couple of Ts for 3 goggles last year as well and he has talked some trash in his career at MU.  But again, I think that is more getting caught up in the heat of the game than it is him being a punk of a person.  I'd rather have that than someone who didn't give a crap whether we won or lost as long as he got his 30.

Somewhat unrelated, but I did notice that just before the tip off players typically give at least a fist bump to at least the guy they're standing next to (a lot of times players will walk around to all of the opposing players and do that), but neither team acknowledged the other before the tip.  They did go to center court and high 5/man hug after the National Anthem, though.  Just thought it was interesting.

94Warrior

Preston Knowles pulled the throat slash last year after he made what seemed like his 4th three in a row.  Only difference was the refs and announcers missed it completely, but it did happen.  If I remeber it, I'm sure Jae does, too.  I hate Loserville, I hate Pitino, and I had no problem with the gesture up 16 pts.

I also had no problem with the KAREN SYPHER chants.
