Did "The Legend" return to Utah State? 17th and KPom has them at 61. Some good talent there but that seems a bit whacky.

TallTitan34

We actually lost a point from the preseason poll.

I think they're legit. I ranked them as the best candidate to be a Buffalo-level buy game this year. They won the MWC autobid last year and have a pure stud in Sam Merrill.

Thanks Brew.  I knew you'd be on it.

Queta has been out since a summer knee injury. They have some tougher games upcoming in November so we'll see.  Easy conference.

That Queta injury is potentially huge. They have a surprising number of neutral site games. Guessing that's the best way to get a crack at quality opponents without having to play guarantee games.

13th in Kenpom up from 15.

11th offense.
22nd defense.

For fun...

Lunardi has Marquette an 8 seed today. (I am often less interested to see who can pick the field and more interested in tracking seed number prediction accuracy)

He has consistently had MU in this range with best one being a 7.

Does the road win help us with a vote or two?

brewcity77

Might get a few votes, won't be close to ranked.

real chili 83

Won't have a shot at ranked until mid-late January at best.

leever

Gee whiz!  If we get enough votes, maybe we can move into a tie with DePaul?

Early January. If we win by large margins it will improve our Pomeroy ranking (which some voters look at) and if we start 2-0 in league play with wins at Creighton & vs Nova, we probably creep in January 6.

Michigan and Butler were unranked just last week....this is all you need to know about the prowess of voters this time of year.  It's December...relax.

Michigan had impressive wins to move up.

Yes, but the brilliance of the voters didn't know how good they were until the games were played....rankings flaws this time of year as a result.

Biggest boost outside of our games is obviously Purdue hammering UVa by 30, who then beat UNC. I know they had a player out, but as I've painstakingly calculated in Value Add, even an All-American replaced by a mediocre player is only about 10 points a game.

All the important things that will keep us in voters' minds are in place - top 25 in kenpom, nations leading scorer, and 4 Big East teams in CBS' new top 25 to have a chance to impress against https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-rankings-ohio-state-destroys-another-quality-opponent-moves-to-no-2-in-top-25-and-1/, as well as three decent wins away from home and one big win at home.

Value Add I was just projecting 37th, so I'm happy so far with MU and especially with the conference.

Maybe we'll replace DePaul in that one.

No. 25 on NBC's Rob Dauster's ballot: https://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2019/12/08/college-basketball-top-25-power-rankings-duke-louisville-kansas-kentucky-michigan-louisville-ohio-state/

"I've been impressed with Marquette defensively. If you can guard and you have two players that are as good at getting a bucket as Markus Howard and Koby McEwen, you have a chance to win a bunch of games."

Methinks Mr. Dauster hasn't watched many of our games since Koby went for 23 and 19 vs Pur and Wis ... but I appreciate the sentiment.

Replace Koby with Sacar and he's not wrong.
