Someone voted for NJIT?!?!?!

9-2, no good wins, losses to Cornell and UMass-Lowell by 13 and 23, respectively.

Keep this in mind when you think about rankings.  Having a vote in the AP poll does not mean one is a qualified basketball expert.

Surprising number of Pollsters didn't put us in after two top 15 wins

A few of these guys have KState and UW ranked and didn't include us wtf?

21 pretty fair

Kentucky at 19 still is funny tho.

Not sure ASU has done much outside of only losing once to a great team

I agree that ASU is overrated but they did beat a top 15 Mississippi State. Their game at San Francisco got delayed.  Would have been interesting to see how they did against a decent mig major on the road.

For the most part, the ballots we missed on are largely... very bad.  That's being nice.  Worst offender I've found: Jesse Newell

It will all work out.

John Wilner had us at 19 last week and dropped us to 20 after our two wins this week lol.

Definitely not concerned but very clear some of these guys don't pay much attention to things. Seth Davis is a guy who I don't like much but it's clear he spends a lot of time on his poll every week and I appreciate that.

You should look at Graham Couchs top 25. He has us ranked at 20, but the rest is trash, starting with not having Duke, Kansas and Tennessee ranked.....

He moved Wisconsin up 5 spots this week.

Read his article.  He's simply making a point about putting your team out there on the road once or twice.  It's December.

Oh.  I thought he was perhaps a HS intern whose parents took away his WiFi and TV last week.

EDIT: I read the article.  His point has merit, though I don't think it's valid.  It's a good thing he's not an odds-maker or every home team would start with 20 points.

Did not make the coaches poll. Most points of others receiving votes though. Coaches still have Badgers 19 and K State 24. Maybe they didn't get the memo about us winning.

Seems like the Johnnies are being dissed by both the AP and the Coaches .

Buffalo needs to beat Southern Illinois and  Syracuse so they come into our game undefeated and  ranked.

That's up there with the "I didn't vote for Maddux because no one should be unanimous" garbage. You are given a privilege to vote--act like it is one.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

He wrote an article on it that supports e why he did so and I think it's a fine opinion. He refuses to rank teams that haven't played on the road because he asserts they are effectively playing a different game. He also says he treats each week separately and reevaluates them all, so once they do play on the road, they will go to their deserving position, be it in the top-5 or anywhere else.

The best part was this:

If you disagree, feel free to email me (gcouch@lsj.com) or tweet at me (@Graham_Couch), but do so only after you email or tweet at your spineless coach, whose fear of the road makes my point. Or whose arrogance deserves to be admonished.

I can respect that.

I will say it: I don't get Iowa ranked. They beat who...a disappointing Oregon team?

What brew said.  I've got no problem with him.  And was simply correcting any erroneous assumption that he doesn't know what he's talking about by not including Duke, etc.

No, its a stupid opinion.  He is overvaluing home court advantage.  Pure and simple.

tower912

Not really.   How did MU play in their one true road game versus how they played at home in back to back Saturdays against ranked teams?     Road games are rough.    And he is covering one of the true road game warriors, Izzo.

After watching the Iowa-ISU game last week, I'm not surprised to see them in the rankings. I think they'll make some noise in the Big Ten this year. The win against Oregon may be a bit inflated, but convincing wins over UConn and ISU have to be carrying some weight right now.

The fact that we are not ranked in over 25% of the polls is a little ridiculous. I get it is early and the numbers at this point don't matter but I feel like these people need to hold themselves a little more accountable to stay up to date on this

Looking at his twitter bio, he bases it off of KenPom.  Comparing the two, they are very similar.
