1.  Will finish the season undefeated and unscored upon.
Sounds too much like the MU football team for my comfort.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

22...and it will be our worst ranking of the season.

We got this.

I'll go with others receiving votes preseason, but a Gavitt win, 1-1 in Brooklyn, and a UW win should put us somewhere between 17-23 IMO, assuming no other slip ups.

Pass me what u guys are smoking.  Sports writers that basically know MU was a 13 loss NIT team that lost their top scorer and last time they saw them got their doors blown off by villanova and couldnt stop a wheel chair team is suddenly a preseason receiving votes team??
I like our team.
Yet think it may take us a bit to get our legs under us, but even if not i cant see too many sportswriters being high on us before we play a game.  If we receive votes or rankings next year, we will have earned them.  We are not No Dick in the football polls yet.

And about as likely.  Others receiving votes.

About 25% of the way-too-early rankings have us somewhere in the 20-25 range. That's why I think while we won't be ranked, we will be receiving votes. Some of these people do have votes in the polls and will put us on their ballot. We won't be on all of them, but we'll be on a few. Enough people pay attention to our program and league to know that we project to be pretty good next year.

Those were written prior to Chartouny transferring in.  There will be a buzz as the season approaches, particularly if it appears health won't be an issue.

Sure, but there are a lot of teams with reason for optimism, which is why there are probably 25-30 teams being considered for the last 10 spots of most of these way-too-early lists. Some will see us up there, some won't. 4-0 may be enough to get us ranked. 6-1 certainly would do it.

MomofMUltiples

I have seen a lot of twitter buzz from the "in-the-know" guys about the Chartouny (and McEwen, but won't affect this year) transfer and have commented on how this solidifies Marquette.  I would expect to see us somewhere between getting lots of votes to 23 in preseason polls as we get closer to the season.  Brooklyn will either cement us there or we'll fall out for a few weeks, coming back in after our beatdown of the badgers in December.

Like most, I'm wildly optimistic about this team on paper, but we all know it's execution that really matters.  Still, Chartouny and Brendan are really the only guys who haven't played together with this team - I think Joey playing with Sam for a few years in HS will help the communication and flow for him, and Morrow's been practicing all year with them.  Hopefully they will get the rust out quickly and make a run to the top of the BEast.

I'm going ranked 23. Much of it will depend on where the coaches poll has us though. If they somehow had us winning the BE I think we'd see a massive amount of AP votes thinking the BE coaches know something they don't

I was going to say something similar to this, but Markus finally missing a FT last season burst my hyperbolic bubble!

Oregon was a 13-loss team that lost to Marquette in the NIT, but they will be ranked - and probably quite high - based on their incoming freshman class.

We don't have such an incoming class, but we do have just about everybody returning, we added one of the better rebounders in the nation via transfer and we added one of the best available grad transfers at our exact position of need.

I don't think we'll get enough votes to be ranked, but I do think we'll get votes.

We'll have a chance in November to show if we deserve to be ranked.

I was going to throw in "not that it matters," but actually ... psychologically I do think it would matter to this group. It would be nice to get to see us among the best for most of the season.

I pay zero attention to the AP/coach's rankings until we get into the conference schedule, and not much more attention to them after that. Just because Georgetown was receiving votes for the Top 25 last season didn't mean they were anywhere close to a good team.

Yes but Oregon plays for the "Conference of Champions" and we play for the new decrepit Big East according to major media outlets...E$PN
I'm in the camp of us receiving little to no votes to start the year and we will have to earn every ounce of respect this year..which I think we are fully capable of earning. Definitely going to be an uphill battle though

Not in the new ESPN "too early" top 25 released on the 23rd. While I would love to see MU ranked in top 25 right now, hopefully once they get in, they see in for a long, long time.

Andy Katz put us at 27 in his top 36 (post draft withdrawal) ranking.  Bucky at 25:

He says two wins away from a birth? Weren't we one win from being third in the Big East?

Anyways if those rankings hold, and we played Tennessee and Kansas. We'd play an absurdly tough non con
