Wow, actually made it to #7.  So obligatory question: when was the last time we were ranked that high in either poll?

Where are you seeing this...ESPN still has last week's poll up.

ESPN has a story up but hasn't updated their rankings page yet...

OSU@IU and UNC@Duke this week, could move up a couple more spots if we take care of business

According to the thread about this from a few days ago, we haven't been #7 or higher since 77-78 (not counting the end of season rankings after the FF in 03).  We've been at #8 a few times since then.

we're already ranked ahead of OSU and IU, so I'm not sure how that game affects us.

I think he meant OSU/MSU or MSU/IU.

We probably won't pass Duke anyways if they lose.  We'd pass UNC though if they lost.

*Assuming we take care of business to finish out the season.

Woops, some sort of a combo there.  Yes MSU@IU and OSU@MSU.

Technically...the last time was 2003. When the final coaches poll came out (after the tournament) we were 6th. Still irritates me that they had Kentucky ahead of us in that poll, despite us destroying them in Minneapolis behind D-Wade's triple-double.

7th  place is huge.  The only other teams ahead  of us are Kentucky, Syracuse, Duke, Kansas, MSU and North Carolina.  The rest of the college basketball world wants to be like us.  Pretty cool.....and well deserved.

Now, lets keep it that way.  One game at a time.

Goose, you said it after the UW game....we got the F***in horses to win it all!!!

Goose

Time to take care of business. We have six more weeks of ball ahead of us!

I say 8.

Probably depends on what OSU does but 8 should be about right. Mizzou will pass us in the 1 poll they were behind us in. Unless they lose to tech.........not happening.

I want to know where the "pundits" think we will rank next year.

I know it depends on how we finish, but it's also dependent on who returns.

My feeling is we're unranked.

We should be #8/#8.  If OSU beats MSU I can settle for #9.  Mizzou was only 2 points behind in Coach's and will pass us.  With Scotty C going off and ISU beating Baylor, there is nobody else behind us beside's OSU that has any business being ranked ahead of us.

+1

As far as next year, I think we start in the 20s but spend most of the year in the teens. Vander, Jamil, and Junior will run the show, Todd and DG will provide a consistent added offensive punch, and our defense will be rock solid.

We'll miss them, how could any program not, but we'll be better than people think. Again.

When was the last time MU was overrated in a pre-season poll??? I honestly can't remember, but the vast majority MU is underrated. Better question......when will the voters learn??? It's pretty pitiful.

We'll definitely be overlooked nationally, but I meant people on here. I don't think next year will be nearly the transition/rebuilding year people are saying.

Before this season, as with every season, I was reading how excited some were for the future.  "Next year's team will be awesome".  Then, as the season get's underway, it turn's to "we do not have any leaders.  The Senior(s) need to take over."  As the season progresses, it becomes "How will we replace the Senior(s) next year?  It will be a rebuilding year."  Then over the summer, we hear about how so and so is tearing it up.  Will be the next stud. The merry go round just continues.

I think Buzz doesn't rebuild, he reloads.  I suspect MU will start outside the Top 25 but by mid Dec., will be back in it.

LOL.  That's so true.  I remember people calling out Jae earlier in the year and now it is "where will we get our scoring from next year without Jae?"

10/10

I'm curious how you think we fall to 10? OSU will jump us with their win over MSU, but who else? Baylor lost, we just beat GU, Murray barely escaped TNST, MI and WI each have two more losses than we do.

We'll be 9 and that's assuming everyone gives MSU the benefit of the doubt.
