I always wished we had something that we could say that was universally agreed upon.  Like wareagle, or even the hook em horns thing. I usually just say go marquete, but i just feel like that's generic and thought someone might have a better idea.

PuertoRicanNightmare

If it bears any reference to our current nickname, a simple "You're a loser," should suffice.

LastWarrior

This is an easy one... (at least for the 80% or so that responded to the JS poll)

Go Warriors!!!

Saw an Asian kid with a Wade Marquette throwback (2003 - is that REALLY a throwback year?!?) Marquette jersey outside a boba/pearl drink place this past week.

Told him, "Sweet jersey. Went there for college. Go MU!"

He just said, "Thanks" and went along with his business.

No love for Brewtown U.  :(

Go Warriors! is universal language. The nickname debacle brings strangers closer together IMO.

I usually just KAW at them... you know like an Eagle

Just Whip out a beer and Chug it, then go about your business. That is a Tribute to MArquette and MIlwaukee. Plus many of you Alumni must understadn taht not every Alumnus understands the Warrior vs. Golden Eagle thing. I didn't even know why they changed it until recently.

I ran into a couple of 2004 grads at the Cleveland Indians blizzard -- errr home opener.  My son was wearing a Marquette stocking cap, so they identified us.  A couple of nice kids and we shared our relief that Crean is staying and our optimism for next year.  I always enjoy running into Marquette people.

Goooooooo GOOOOOOOO GO MARQUETTE! GO GO GO GO

I usually just smile... because it is rare compared to the amount of Wisconsin stuff people wear here in WI...

and boy am I excited when I go to Texas to teach, and I get to hear hook'em horns all the time...  one question... is there any rule against basketball coaches(since I also want to coach basketball) telling there players if they coach a D1 eligable player to go to a certain school  ;)   because Texas seems to care about prep sports more than up here, in the next ten years look for an increase in Texas recruits at MU   ;)  wishful thinking

I think Tom Crean is a good coach, I really do, I love the style of basketball that he plays... (I personally want to run the 40 minutes of hell with my kids).... but if I have any kid that is D1 qualified... and is scouted... Im going to throw in my 2 cents :)

"Ring Out Ahoya" is my preferred greeting and salutation. If you get a funny look you know they didn't go to MU.
We Are Marquette

mu_hilltopper

We do need to come up with a standard MU greeting.

Lots of people stare at my car, either for its rarity or because of the license.

.. but today, as I drove back from Michigan, a car pulled along side and gave me the thumbs up, which I returned.  They passed me again, and the woman .. I think .. was gooooo gooooooooing Marquette ..

So if you drive a brown Buick LeSabre and were on I-94 north of Chicago today around 2pm:  Hey.  Go Marquette.

This guy with his family stopped was staring at me as I was walking towards him near the Monterey Bay Fisherman's Pier.

He stopped and made a funny look. I was looking back like "Yeah...and what did you need?"

He then said, "Are you from Milwaukee?" I said I went to Marquette then extended my hand and said, "Hi! Enrico, Class of 97." He was a grad student from 95.

Then we bid adieu and that was that.

So to keep with the thread's subject, I guess you say, "Are you from Milwaukee?"

I enjoyed seeing your license plate driving back to school on Monday.  I'm not the brown car, but we passed each other back and forth a few times on I-90.  I thought I'd seen that license plate before, but I figured it was around campus.  Now I remember where I'd seen it... muscoop!

mu_hilltopper

So, how was I driving?  I think I'm pretty sane, but I can go native when I'm in Chicago, right?  The one thing about having a somewhat famous license plate is I do worry I'll tick someone off.

I think we all need some sort of MUScoop.com bumper sticker.  And some sort of gang sign to flash.   :D

drewm88

Just let me know when you leave the state so I can steal your license plate. I love it.

I usually get a new one when I get a new car .. but this one is pretty special.

I was at a party and a guy asked me how long it took for me to get it.  "I dunno, 3-4 weeks."  He explained that he knew the guy who had for years and years before me .. a guy who was Fr. Raynor's assistant in O'Hara hall Herb Tchalec (I've butchered his name).

I just lucked into it at the right time.

One thing .. I've been astounded by the number of MU grads I know who don't have the foggiest clue about what "Ahoya" is, in relationship to MU.  I guess if you never went to a sporting event, you might not know ROA is our song.

PuertoRicanNightmare

The bigger question is...where did you get that license plate frame? That's what I like.

MUtrain

Your driving was much better than anyone with an Illinois plate.
