"Marquette closing in on a couple of impressive recruits ... one from 2012 and another from 2013. Both ranked nationally."

Any idea in regards to what? New commit? New AD? New Uniforms?

I'm hoping we have a 5 star uniform coming in 2012 and 2013.

Define "closing in"......

Would rather have heard "closing the deal".

Mark Miller is usually pretty reputable...so I'd say this is a very good piece of news...and rarely puts out stuff prematurely.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

McGary and Koenig....a man can dream right?

Honestly, I have no idea who the 2013 might be, but I would be happy with any of the multitude of PFs that we have been looking at for 2012.

Koenig isn't even an option for MU anymore.

Or maybe the best looking bunch of freshman girls to invade the MU campus since the much heralded class of '75?

I'm not too familiar with the 2013 class, anyone have ideas/guesses as to who would be a likely candidate?

For 2013, Scout links us with:

47. Deonte Burton, 6'4" SF - originally from Milwaukee
63. Jaylon Tate, 6'2" PG - Chicago
79. Duane Wilson, 6'2" PG - Dominican
81. Luke Fisher, 6'8" PF - Germantown
83. Bronson Koenig, 6'3" PG - Aquinas
98. Treshawn Bolden, 6'8" PF - Natchez, MS

If I were to guess, it would be a local guy making a decision this early.  Wilson or Fisher would be my guess...

I'm really hoping the 2012 is either McGary or Dunn. The McGary recruitment is hard to follow because it seems he isn't saying much, though his Twitter leads me to think UNC is the leader. Some thought Dunn was looking away from us, but a report yesterday said that we're still the favorite. Another guy who it's hard to get a read on because since saying "I want to go to Marquette" in March, he hasn't said much. Of course, both have gone from top-100 top likely top-10 type recruits over the past few months. I would guess that both of them end up top-25 RSCI by the time all is said and done.

2013 is a lot harder to handicap. The guys I know we've offered that seem like they wouldn't have to wait for the scholarship situation to clear up would be Deonte Burton, Brannen Greene, Jabari Parker, and Bronson Koenig. That said, I would probably drop dead of shock if either Parker or Koenig committed right now. Also, Greene is supposed to be attending Kansas' Late Night at the Phog this year. Maybe Burton?

No inside knowledge, but Deonte Burton is a big, physical buzz-type (aka switchable / 2-3) from Milwaukee...

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/102636/deonte-burton

...and, as long as we're speculating, he plays at Brewster Academy with a certain big-time recruit named Mitch McGary...package deal, perhaps???

Again, I have absolutely no knowledge, but that would be an amazing situation and, frankly, it doesn't seem too far fetched!

I think one plays for Mac Irvin Fire, we have been mentioned with them so much lately on twitter, and Buzz has been watching many of their games. Who could that be? Any ideas?

Isn't Steve Taylor still playing for Mac Irvin Fire?

The first four names that come to mind for 2012 are McGary, Dunn, Taylor, and Shaquille Cleare. I'd be happy with any of those guys.

Steve Taylor, 6'7" switchable from Chicago...2012.  This would not surprise me in the least if it were him.

Another package deal I wouldn't mind would be 2012 Steve Taylor and 2013 Jabari Parker, both from Mac Irvin Fire...

...ahh, to dream...

Everything I have seen lately about recruiting has involved Mac Irvin Fire in some way, I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of the two players is from that program. If we got that package deal from Mac Irvin Fire that would be pretty amazing.

Taylor - Tate combo.... Think they go to the same highschool... This would be good as a renewable line into chicago

According to the Scout guys, 6 schools have been mentioned with McGary's recruitment and MU is not one of them. That ship has sailed.

Which Scout guys?  As of 1 week ago we were still being brought up with regards to his recruitment:  http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/1089366.html

I don't think we'll get McGary, but he's been quiet personally about his recruitment, not really saying anything over the summer. The only thing he's said is that he hopes to make a decision before his senior year. Not sure if that means by the end of August (which could favor us, he's already visited here) or if it's before the basketball season starts. Either way, I trust little regarding his recruitment because he's been so quiet on schools recently.
