I read something from a baseball scout who said not to go overboard with the travel teams etc, because "if the kid has talent don't worry believe me that one of us will find you."

Lot of talk about the US's underwhelming results with their "Golden Generation", which is true in parts.  But there are going to be books written about the disappointment of Belgium's golden generation cause it's pretty staggering.

They still have 2026 WC before the window closes, but that's still the back side of the prime for their stars.

KDB who is the discussion among all time greats at the CM position.

Lukaku, who while maligned, has 100+ EPL goals (top 20 all time) plus another hundred in Serie A and is probably a top 10 striker of his generation.

Courtois who is probably a top 2-3 keeper of his generation.

Then a pile of guys like Mertens, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, and Witsel who were standout players on CL squads for a decade...oh and Eden Hazard

And despite being top ranked in the world rankings, they've mustered a single semi appearance in the 2018 WC and a bunch of first knockout stage defeats.  Just immensely disappointing

The ref has been bad but geez it's almost like the announcers have been manufacturing the excuse since the first minute.

I don't know, those advantage plays were criminal. They let Uruguay play on while issuing a card that keeps one of the CBs out of the play, then deliberately wait until Pulisic is free and clear to end advantage the other way?

Ultimately, USA losing and GGG fired is probably the best case, but I'm still cheering for this team because I can't not.

We're not good or close to being dangerous any time soon.  That's the bottom line.   I heard this was one of the better USA teams.

It would be funny, but it's not true. The US had 3 (Robinson, Moore, and Johnson) and Uruguay had 2 (Suarez and Olivera).  Panama also had 3, including Carrasquilla who got tossed for hacking at Pulisic.

Gregg shouldn't make it to the weekend, but I fully expect to be disappointed

So it was a pretty cool experience to be there. Electric at the beginning, but the second half was fairly dull. Arrowhead is a decent venue, but the stadium site is godawful.
